Various types of emojis may appear in front of usernames in the chat section to convey different meanings and statuses. Listed here are some of the most popular friendship emojis on Snapchat:
Fire🔥- highlights a Snapstreak, which occurs when you and another user exchange snaps for at least three consecutive days. The number next to the fire emoji represents the number of days you have been on a Snapstreak with the other user.
Yellow heart 💛- appears next to your #1 best friend on Snapchat (and vice versa). This happens when you exchange a significant number of snaps with a user regularly.
Pink hearts 💕 – means you have been best friends with a user for two consecutive months (aka Super best friends!). You’ve been sending the most snaps to each other for 60 consecutive days.
Red heart ❤️ – you will see this emoji when you have been exchanging snaps with your #1 best friend for two consecutive weeks. This emoji is an upgrade from the yellow heart emoji. If you manage to maintain it for two months, you will be upgraded further to the Super best friends status.
Sunglasses 😎 – means that you and this person have a mutual best friend that you send many snaps to.
Grimacing face 😬- appears when your #1 best friend is their #1 best friend. Basically, you both exchange many snaps with the same person.
Smiling face 😊 – represents a close friend, but not your #1 best friend. You frequently exchange snaps – but not quite enough to become best friends.
Baby👶- means that you have just become friends with someone on the app, and your Snapchat friendship is just in the initial stages.
Hourglass⌛- your Snapstreak is running out of time. To save it, you need to snap each other quickly.
Glowing Star🌟- means someone has replayed one of your snaps in the past 24 hours. They may have found your snap interesting or entertaining and wanted to watch it again.
100 💯- you have been exchanging snaps with your friend for 100 days. It is definitely not easy, so give yourself a pat on the back when you achieve it!

Cake 🎂: if you see a cake emoji next to a friend’s name, it means they are celebrating their birthday today. Send them a snap or a chat to wish them a happy birthday!
Zodiac signs ♓: shows the astrological sign of your friends based on their birthday (if they have added this information to the app). You can see more by tapping on their profile. Each emoji and date range corresponds to a different zodiac sign.

How to Customize Emojis in Snapchat
Snapchat offers a feature that allows you to personalize the emojis used for predefined friend categories. For example, if you’d like to replace the default yellow heart with a brown one, you can easily make this customization from your Snapchat settings (via the mobile app, but not in the web version of Snapchat).
Click on your profile icon in the Snapchat app (Android | iOS) in the top left.
Tap the gear icon in the top right to launch Settings.
Scroll down to the “Privacy Control” section, and click on “Customize Emojis.”
Select the emoji from the list that you want to change.
Pick your preferred one from the list of options on your screen.
That’s it! The selected emoji will be applied to its respective category.
