The McKinley Park is a great place to go for a relaxing day with friends or family. With its large green areas and beautiful rose garden, it's perfect for a romantic picnic. The park also has tennis courts and playgrounds for the kids, as well as a pool and lake with wild birds.

I have been living in the East Sacramento neighborhood for about 6 months and this park has been a great workout place for me.I ran from my place to here and make few circles around the park. And in the morning and the evening it was beautiful. The restrooms were maintained well by the city and there is a pool as well. If you are the owner of the houses around the park, you are blessed.I hope the city maintain this place well in the future as well. Good job and keep the good job please!

Jun S — Google review

Very large. The rose garden is excellent. There only seem to be bathrooms by the play ground. Parking is always awful, so good luck. Lots picnic benches and a few picnic tables scattered around the perimeter of the rose garden.

Had a really nice morning walk during our stay in Sac. Quiet and relaxing.I wish I had gotten to see the roses bloom, but these peonies were just as beautiful. 😊

Jamie V — Google review

Great place to spend an evening with the family. My child really enjoys the playground. The park has roses, a pond and a large area to relax I love this place!

Tatiana C — Google review

Always have lots of fun there, always bring frozen peas and spinach to feed the duckies and the geese

Amanda T — Google review

Very nice park, plus a rose garden is included.

Such a fun playground with two for different age groups. Climbing areas and balancing areas are so fun. It's a nice green space around the playground too.

Peaceful spot with good people and good uplifting energy. Very clean with something for everyone. Outdoor Yoga classes, (acrobatic yoga) amazing! Tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, large Horseshoe pit area, fun children's play area, walking and running track encircling park, picnic tables, lovely rose garden, and a great Library! A charming and seemingly safe place to spend a day with family, friends, or for a relaxingl self day!

I love this place it's so naturist and so peaceful good for weddings gatherings Northgate party or just a quiet self reflecting moment

Roberta H — Google review

Just picked my hubby up from an early night from work and wanted to spend quality time outdoors before ending our Saturday. Perfect yet always awesome, cool weather in Sacramento for a walk in the park(ice cream of a sort in hand). Enjoy and take in the beauty of the park!

Charlene T — Google review

Lots of fun! Really beautiful area with ducks and geese roaming everywhere. Playground is big and always had lots of families in it. Had to take off a star through because of all the trash and clear lack of maintenance of structure. Not cleaned and the see saw has been out of order for years. Haven't checked out any restrooms. Not sure if there are any. Parking is also tough along the surrounding streets. I'll be back because my son gets lots of social time with others. But I always have to make sure he's not accidently playing with some trash under the structure or in the dirt.

JO C — Google review

Great place for the whole family. We bring oats and peas to feed the ducks and geese. The park is big and fun for kids of all ages.

Nella P — Google review

Gorgeous rose garden. Great place to visit during the spring-summer season.

Changqing Z — Google review

Such an Exciting Park!! I absolutely adore the View with all the things they have going here. The very cool wooden playground with so many different types of Fun, with the Basketball Court, Canopy area for parties, other picnic areas all around with BBQ Pits. Then The Huge Swimming Pool right next to it that is always full of staff and families in the summer. Most importantly They have the perfect Pond full of Beautiful Ducks, Swans and little baby duckies, Geese and Turtles. I always stop at the feed store close by the Park and get Duck food to feed them all. They come right to you with no aggression just patiently waiting on myself and my daughters to feed them. It’s so Calming and makes us ALL happy. Then you can walk around the parks path with the squirrels following you and find the most Elegant Flower Garden that just takes your breath away.

Andy M — Google review

Such a wonderful park, it could use some additional parking for sure. So get here early if you have plans to scope out a spot, other than that it’s totally worth the parking hassle and a wonderful place to have a birthday party, take your kids, exercise, or just go on a nice walk.

Brianna L — Google review

I love this park! It's an amazing park to spend leisurely time at with friends, family or significant other. Bring snacks for the ducks, pigeons, squirrels, or even yourself. The whole park is beautifully lit by the sun, and serene when there's a cool breeze. Everyone seems friendly and the Rose Garden is always esthetic to walk through.

Joseph J — Google review

McKinley Park has a small lake nice place to take photos and a very short walk includes a library. This day though we went to an event center next to McKinley Park and it's very well lit very Cherry has three rooms they're all large it could be used for an event or to serve food to guests. 5.0 for the event center 4.0 from McKinley Park

Randy T — Google review

Normally one of my favorite parks in Sacramento, but I went here today and there is Soooo much trash everywhere in the grass! No matter where I went to set up a picnic spot, trash everywhere… a lot of it is from big groups and parties that come here but I wish people would be better about cleaning up after themselves— or if the city would send more workers to come through and clean the park regularly..

State park

Sights & Landmarks

John A. Sutter built the fort in 1840, which is now the oldest restored fort in the US.

This is a really great local piece of western American history. It's also great for local Sacramento history, but the significance really is to people who migrated out here due to gold and settling in the valley. What's interesting is that only the center building is original to Sutter's Fort. However, the rest of it had to be reconstructed and is almost 140 years old itself. So it's all quite old. Old. But the middle building is the only original structure left. There is a small gift shop and restrooms and drinking fountains throughout. Street parking only. I was able to park for less than $4 for 2 hours so that is very reasonable. Also, don't forget to check out the state Indian museum which is right next to it. Prices are the same. If you pay for one you don't get in free to the other one. State Indian museum also has a small gift shop as well. However no photos are allowed inside the state indian museum

This is a beautiful walk in the middle of our downtown/midtown area. I took my dog and really enjoyed seeing so much nature in the middle of our area! I was really impressed by the extremely large evergreen. It must be ancient! I I loved seeing such a diversity of plants and trees. The water fountains, in the pond, are a nice feature. I LOVED seeing the ducks! My pup had a GREAT time and we will return. The only major disappointment was the condition of the pond. It was pretty dirty and stagnant in large areas. I hope they are doing work soon to bring the pond back to life.

Templa D — Google review

Parts of the fort were under construction, so admission was free. We were still able to see several of the indoor rooms, as well as the central (original) building. Fun and educational, as always!

Catherine — Google review

Went with our adult day program, happened to go when there were educational groups there, so there were plenty of staff on hand to ask questions of.There is a restroom, might be a little hard to get to for wheelchairs. Parking is on street, no picnic tables at the park around the fort. Indian Museum is on-site, with its own admittance fee.

Kim S — Google review

Great historical site! I hope California continues to fund these important pieces of our American Culture and history. I went while under renovation though I’ve been numerous times as a Sacramentan I’ve been here multiple times as a child. Sad to see the statue removed from across the street but still happy to see all the work being done to preserve. Also free during construction!

G — Google review

A short video to share with youhttps://youtu.be/FkNbQfjVahc?si=AYAgRfQ_Q2UZUCUvA well preserved and organized historical building. Lots of original stuffs left to offer imaginative life at that time. First ever European setup in California with support from local natives. Deserved to spend time in walking around. Parking is easy around the park. Admission fee is required.

Denny L — Google review

Well-preserved historical site with friendly docents. Currently free because of some light construction. We went Sunday noon and had the entire place to ourselves.

Bo Z — Google review

Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park, a Living History Museum since 1947, is both a California and National Historic Landmark. Set in 1846, it preserves California’s history, highlighting the diverse cultures of the 1840s, including Americans, Mexicans, pioneers, and Native Americans.Visitors can explore areas like the Main Building, Carpenter Shop, Gunsmith, Blacksmith, Kitchen, and Bakery. The park attracts over 100,000 visitors annually.

Dariusz W — Google review

It's an interesting place to visit. Very well organized information for exploration is provided at the beginning/front. Cost only $5. I would recommend if you like that kind of places. Short and sweet self guided tour.

Vera Z — Google review

This is a small trade center during the 1849s. It was free today but not sure if there is usually a fee. Definitely worth visiting if the admission is free

Jeffery T — Google review

This self guided tour is an interesting look into the early history of California which includes information about the indigenous peoples who were here before Sutter. The artifacts from that era, tools and implements, were especially interesting to me as a woodworker.

Harold G — Google review

Sutter's Fort state historic Park a very beautiful clean and quiet Park and what a Amazing Place This is not to mention it was free because they're doing some renovating wish I can tell you how much they charge to get in but because it was free I can't tell you but what I could tell you is what a beautiful Park and the best of all we had most of this park to ourselves I'm not sure if it was because it was the day before Easter but it was a great day very beautiful not to mention the Indian Museum it's something to see if you haven't been there it was $5.00 per person to enter this is by Sutter's Fort walking distance and wait till you see this beautiful Pond they have there something to see if you're ever in the area take a look for yourself you won't regret it . The parking you have to pay the parking meter I paid $7.00 for 4 hours

Daniel ( — Google review

We really enjoyed visiting the fort. The Rangers were very knowledgeable. We like that they didn't sugarcoat the story of Sutter, and told the actual story. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children

Dina N — Google review

it was free in early jan of 24 cause they were working on repairs and some of the rooms were closed, it was really informative and still had a lot of access, lots of history.

David Q — Google review

It's a very beautiful historic point of interest located in the heart of midtown. When I went most recently, it was free and open to everyone, but that was because they were undergoing some major construction so the park wasn't really bursting with life. I remember going here as a kid however and witnessing a reenactment of pioneer life. It's an experience I'll never forget and it taught me about where my people come from. If you're interested in learning some colonial history then there really is no better place to go.

Mary M — Google review

The construction was still going so it was free to go in. Although I'm not sure if I would still give it a four star if it wasn't free. I went on a rainy day so it was pretty empty, I think I got a better experience because of that, even though a bunch of the rooms were closed. Honestly this was not the most beautiful fort I've seen, but I appreciated the significant role it played in history.

Yu H — Google review

This is a nice way to spend an hour or two if you are in the area and are interested in California history. There is a nice gift shop inside.

Isaias C — Google review

It was very historical and the family enjoyed it. There is Merter Parking and a park next to the Fort.

Maria T — Google review

Fun park with insightful guides. Cool little gift shop as well with some fun historic type gifts. Oldest adobe building in the central valley located at the park, where Sutter saw Marshall's gold discovery.

Be L — Google review

Our kids liked to see the turtles in the pond and feel the furs in the trapper area. They were baking bread and making rope when we were there. Interestingly, the red, green, and white flag is not an Italian flag, it was the old flag of Mexico.

Scott R — Google review

Sutter's Fort in midtown Sacramento is a wonderful place to visit. The fort itself has been restored and it is continually being restored to look like it did when it was first built. The history is incredible! If you have family or friends visiting our area, definitely take them to Sutter's Fort. They will not be disappointed.

Nice place and friendly staff. This was our first visit, we tried their Light Flight for $5, and their Antipasto plate. Next time I would like to try their Reserve Flight.

Oksana F — Google review

The space that the winery has for degustation is incredible, but the structure makes it a little but noisy. The wine are not premium. The people is so nice there but they commented us that they winery has been sold and next week will change its name and they will be selling in whole sale. They have nice variety of cheeses, crackers. The outside looked incredible but we were there in a rainy day and even in a rainy day looks like an amazing activity. The prices for the degustation are $5, $10 or $15 per person, pretty razonable and affordable.

Paula S — Google review

Private tasting with the charcuterie plates was delicious. Great wines.

Lindsay L — Google review

Nice place to taste wine and get good food from their deli.

Mark L — Google review

Great wine and their tasting room is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful oak everywhere. I've not eaten here, but I hear it's great. I can't tear myself away from the wine long enough to find out more. They have a nice seating area outside should you want to stay awhile.

Celeste R — Google review

The tasting room sells a variety of cheese, would fit any wine. Our tasting experience was good (albeit not quick) , and we happily got a couple bottles. Seems a bit to sterile though, no warm and welcoming atmosphere you get at many wineries.

Paul — Google review

Sadly, Renwood is closing after 25 years. We’ve only been members for 5 years but they have been great. We LOVE the wines - esp. the Wine Club Zins. The food’s always great, etc. A lot of good people will be leaving - hopefully to work at other area wineries. Jessica you’re awesome. The bar has been set very high for Rombauer. Best of success to them in taking over the winery and putting their own spin on things. Great grapes and staff and methods = awesome wine. We look forward to visiting you down the road.

Art L — Google review

Their wine has improved so. damn. much. I was very impressed how the quality has improved over the past few years. And I am not saying that it was bad before, but it is a testament with what their new winemaker has been able to accomplish. I was impressed! So you can just go there for the great wine, but the actual tasting room was quite nice, as well. I like the newish remodel that was done a couple of years back and how they incorporated a restaurant style eating area there. They only draw back is the room can be quite echo-y, meaning when you hear the cackle of a pack of cougars who got lost coming down from Helwig and decided to stop here, it can be quite piercing on the ear drums. Not Renwoods fault though. I recommend going outside if this happens, which is okay because the grounds are simply beautiful and the wine is fantastic!

Visitor Centers

The Lodi Wine Visitor Center is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. Located on Turner Road next to Wine & Roses, it offers a comprehensive introduction to the Lodi appellation. Visitors can learn about the region's winemaking process and the impact of night breezes from the Sacramento Delta on vine growth. With over 200 Lodi bottles available, including those from small-batch vintners without their own tasting rooms, there's no shortage of options to explore.

Had a great time picking up wine with the hubby today at Lodi wine and visitors center...unlike other wineries in Lodi, they have wine from ALL THE WINERIES FROM LODI.You can try wines from all the places...find ones you love and then visit the wineries that you'd like to try more of. We found many wineries in Lodi we would never have gone to!Paul is very knowledgeable about the wine at the visitors center. Take a chance and go there. Beautiful tasting room and garden. Love the 🍷 wine! Great gifts as well...

Ellen M — Google review

A wonderful selection of local wines are available for tasting in a large space. Service from staff was excellent. There appears to be a hotel near the tasting area and a nice coffee bar next to it.

Douglass B — Google review

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! This was a beautiful discovery 😍 of fine wines. Home grown here in Lodi. Friendly atmosphere, with charming gathering places, in various corners of their courtyard. There was even a Vineyard that you could walk through to educate oneself on. Well layed out, be sure to add it to your bucket list of things to do whenever you're in this neck of California. Follow me and catch up on all my sites and places to just sto into. Check out "Beautiful Places in Hawaii"...enjoy! Ciao for now.

Helpful, knowledgeable and nice staff help you get a great overview of what makes Lodi wines special and suggestions on which wines and wineries might suit your style and budget

Amy — Google review

We’ve been members here for over 15 years. This place is great because you get wines from all over the Lodi Appalachian and you’re not stuck to just one winery a very good value as far as “memberships“ go highly recommend and the staff is always courteous and knowledgeable.

Sean B — Google review

Great way to start your wine trip around Lodi. Very knowledgeable staff (including personal stories about founders of wineries and winemakers), great selection of different wines, and beautiful facility. While Lodi wines in general can be a little high in sugar, they are consistently enjoyable across the region. Can't go wrong.

Martin L — Google review

Ana was very sweet and knowledgeable about the wines in the Lodi area… it would be nice to have more tables or comfy seats.

Glenda P — Google review

The staff there were friendly. After the wine tasting, we bought 2 bottles of wine, that were very well packed for us. When I just arrived home and opened the package, I found the expensive wine club exclusive Heavy Hitter Petite Sirah was not sealed. I talked to the manager the next day and he explained some wineries simply send in their wines to the visitor center with the bottles not sealed. This exposes a safety concern to us, because the content of the bottle could be easily changed. It was said there were some environmental concerns with the foil sealing. If so, there should be some sort of replacement like wax sealing. Wine sold with the bottles not even sealed in any way is not acceptable.

Y S — Google review

We took a leap of faith and went out of our way to visit this awesome tasting room. Great wines and great service .Located in what seems like a residential area.WORTH THE VISIT!

Raymond R — Google review

Great place to stop by to teste local wines and to have an intellectual conversation. Paul was a great and knowledgeable host!

Valery P — Google review

Visited for the pick up party which was well attended this year. Good food catered by Wine and Roses restaurant/hotel next door and a good selection of wine tastings from N2, Michael Klouda etc. We enjoy the wine club here because we get 4 reds from different member wineries each quarter. Recommend visiting and tasting.

Bruce H — Google review

It was a short stop but hubby and I enjoyed this visit. Waited for them to open so we can buy some wine before meeting a friend. Great Memories, lovely place!

Cherry B — Google review

The older woman with dark hair and glasses working at the wine tasting counter was very rude to us. We were trying to figure out our shuttle pick up location. When we returned to the visitor center from the hotel staff who sent us back to her for clarification she turned to customers she was waiting on and said “Oh, they’re back” in a very snotty way even though our communication towards her had been very friendly and upbeat. She told us she couldn’t help us and we should wait outside (in the cold) even though the visitor center was empty. Then, a man in a blue vest jacket came out from the back area and said our shuttle would pick us up in front of the center and we could wait inside where it was warm. The older lady changed her demeanor at that point and echoed what he said. So rude and poor representation of the Lodi wine community. This experience was a birthday celebration and our first time visiting Lodi to spend money. Poor behavior from one human being to another. Thanks for that. Here’s a tip: treat people with dignity and respect! Stop making baseless judgements on the way people look or dress because they don’t match your IDEAL client.

Heather F — Google review

We went to pickup our club order. Did a tasting of three wines. Did not disappoint.

Sandy R — Google review

Still thinking about the wine tasting last August 27, 2020. Had an amazing weekend. We enjoyed the variety of wines. We even bought additional bottles. The ambience seating outside was perfect only one other couple. Ee also stayed in 2022 a few nights love the room with the walk out to the pool and the room by the courtyard so quiet and peaceful love walking around and sittting outside the room. They have room service but at the time we had to pick up. But the chef was amazing! We almost got married here. Oh also had a wonderful massage do not miss scheduling a massage and bring your bathing suit for the jacuzzi after. Had an amazing time 5 stars.

Mojo L — Google review

Thank you Brooke, we were so glad to have this fantastic experience tasting a little bit of Lodi during my work trip! This is such a brilliant concept to have in town. I appreciated it so much! Lodi does not disappoint with their wines and we will be back in the area for sure, cheers!

We had an amazing tasting. The woman who helped us was so friendly and kind. We loved all of the wine and the relaxing atmosphere.

The staff is super nice. The tasting room was great! I enjoyed the Zins but I’m not sure we would come back and visit. Although we spoke to people that really love all of the wines here, we felt it wasn’t our favorite. I think it’s a matter of taste, but worth a try as I know they work hard to produce!

Heather took us through a wonderful wine tasting experience. She and the other wonderful ladies even stayed late as to not make us feel rushed. The wines are exceptional and so are the staff! Definitely on our places to return list!

Kevin S — Google review

Klinker Brick never disappoints. The wine tastings are amazing. The customer service is wonderful. We arrived within a half hour of closing and they accommodated us. Our friends were amazed by the quality of the wine and the beauty of the locale. 10/10 recommend.

Kaili K — Google review

This place is amazing. My wife and I came during a trip for my first time to Cali. I had one of their wines (the Old Ghost) in a bar in St Pete, FL. After 1 visit we were hooked. Brennan was awesome. She took great care of us and got me to sign up for the wine club. Everything we had was great and always felt welcome and like we were part of the family. Since being a wine club member, Marisa has gone above and beyond to take care of me. 1000% recommend visiting and joining this winery.

Blair S — Google review

The staff here are incredibly kind and patient. While we were visiting, we even witnessed a proposal, which added a memorable touch to the experience. In our opinion, though, the wine and sparkling options were disappointing. While I’m open to exploring more Lodi wines, this visit left me questioning if it's worth it.Just a heads-up: this is a tasting room. The outdoor area looked charming, but it was too cold to enjoy. Inside, the vibe is rustic—nothing glamorous, but fitting for Lodi

Mieko — Google review

Stopped in on a busy afternoon. Brennan greeted me warmly, told me to sit anywhere I liked, and took my order shortly thereafter. If it’s your first time, be sure to do a tasting of their red wines or just grab a glass of the superb Old Ghost. Great wine, professional staff, and a convivial environment… I’ll definitely be coming back here.

Lorenzo V — Google review

We were very pleased with the selections here. Our server was very helpful in finding the wine we liked. We ended up buying 1/2 a case! She also helped us find other area wineries we might like. All-in-all, a great experience with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great wine!

Amy W — Google review

Excellent Zinfandel, including their famous Old Ghost. I also liked their Farrah Syrah and their Grenache Blanc. The staff is really friendly and they have a nice patio with a fountain made from an old vine cast.

We picked a great day to visit Klinker Brick Patio - Mild 72 degrees on July 9th! Our first time here, we will definitely be back. We had exceptional service from our server, Heather. We throughly enjoyed the bubbles, the wine and the live music!

David R — Google review

Excellent wines and beautiful outdoor tasting areas. We arrived on an unexpectedly hot day (84) but stayed cool under their patio cover. Loved their bubbly and light wine flight. Open daily and very dog friendly! We will return;)

Janet W — Google review

We had a complete blast tasting wine with host, Brennan last Tuesday, 1-30-24. My wife's favorite was the best, most balanced semi-sweet white I've ever had called Vorganger, and mine was the Old Ghost. Of course we had to join their wine club! Thanks for a perfect time, Brennan! Klinker Brick is a great place to experience Lodi wine - my favorite wine in the world!

Bushman W — Google review

This was yet another winery that just shoves a wooden rack of plastic cups across the bar at you after you order a flight. They do offer you a glass to pour them into and the staff will respond to questions. The wine was decent, but what really took this from 3* to 4* territory was the live music on the patio and the food truck with lobster rolls that happened to be there that day. We also scored a case of rose for $99!-)

Chuck L — Google review

Their events and wine are good- but lately the events are not as great. The new staff hired that are pouring wine are less friendly…evening event are a no go and boring.. day events were better. Marissa and old ghost are good wines. We have been members for 10 years now.

Chandni G — Google review

Stopped in during a work trip to the area. Friendly staff and great wine. Absolute steal for the quality you're getting. Old Ghost is probably one of the best zins I've ever had. My winemaker father would agree.

Padriac T — Google review

Nice wine. I just wish they were family friendly like many of the other wineries in the area.

Dominic C — Google review

We had a wonderful visit and wine tasting at Klinker Brick Winery in early April of 2022! Their winery is in the agricultural area of Lodi: grapes, walnuts and more. Our hosts were gracious and helpful. The three of us chose to taste the three flights they offered that day. Mostly reds with a couple of sparkling, and roses. We found their wines to be enjoyably dryer than our usual selections. It provided us a palate pleasing contrast. We spent the night at the vineyard via harvest hosts. It was a beautiful sunset in the arms of the grape vines.

Stephen N — Google review

Nice winery tasting venue, beautiful patio so you can taste outside or inside. You get to pick a flight ranging from $10, $15, or $20 for 6 tastes. Good idea is to share different flights. The wines range from light dry Albarino to full bodied reds. We like the Old Ghost Zinfandel, Farrah Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon the best. Prices for the wines are very reasonable. The only drawback is very little attention from the staff if you like to ask questions about the grapes and the specific wines but there are answers on the website which we accessed during the tasting. The offer deli style bites also reasonably priced.

Roger C — Google review

Great value wine tasting. We did the $10 tasting and got to try 7 amazing wines they produce. The location is gorgeous and the attention, superb. Will be back and will.tell others visiting our AirBnB in Stockton about it too.

Manuel ( — Google review

The tasting room is so pretty here, especially decorated for Christmas. I've tasted here before on a weekend and was blown away that there were four flights to choose from. This time there were two. The wine is reasonably priced and tastings are waived with a bottle purchase (2 bottles purchased to waive the reserve tasting). This time I headed in about an hour before closing and felt rushed by the staff despite there being several other people still tasting in the room. The patio area is beautiful and I may try again in summer.

History museum

The Haggin Museum, located in Stockton's Victory Park, is a hidden gem that showcases three stories of galleries featuring paintings by renowned 19th and 20th-century artists. The art collection includes works by Albert Bierstadt, Rosa Bonheur, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Jean-Leon Gerome, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Additionally, the museum offers exhibits on local history with artifacts and recreations from Stockton's past.

Nice, well collected museum to visit. Free admission with BFA card on first weekend of every month.

Great museum. Good architecture, cute gift shop, & beautiful array of art. I especially enjoyed the nature landscapes on the second floor & the local history on the first.

Arani L — Google review

A great way to spend two hours, learn about Stockton history, and enjoy a beautiful art collection.

I was not expecting much from a little museum in Stockton, but I was so, so wrong. This place is great! There's a docent there that is also a lawyer who knows quite possibly everything you'd ever need to know about art or the Haggin family. We spent most of our time being led around the fire art area by this man, and he explained colors, angles in the paintings drawing the eye in, identifying what is the most important thing in a work of art, and so much more. He knew about the paintings, the statues, the stories behind some of the artists, tricks artists use to draw your eye in - he was great. He and I talked about art museums in Paris passionately, Monet's house, all sorts of things. I felt very cosmopolitan. He was better than one of those audio guides you can rent at the Louvre. I really appreciated hearing his excitement over the paintings. They also have an interesting display of a trunk that murderess Emma LeDoux put her husband's dead body in after she killed him in 1906. She was planning to ship this whole thing from San Francisco to Stockton, but she forgot to put a destination tag on the trunk and it sat at the train station until it started stinking. It doesn't stink anymore, but still looks to have blood stains on it. The trunk is pretty small, so we had to stand there looking at it to figure out how you'd fit a whole man in there.10/10. Great museum with an amazing docent!

This is a must visit if you want to see the history of Stockton. From paintings 🖼 to vintage photographs 📸 to Native Americans history. Super cheap and it will take a good amount of time to see all three levels. Check it out

Beautiful little museum with exquisite artwork and displays. My favorite was the Leyendecker gallery. Under the Mexican Sky was a bit underwhelming. I was expecting to see actual Mexican artist/photographers with a lot of vibrant colors but it was dull. Other than that it was a wonderful experience. Everyone that works there were very nice and knowledgeable.

Araceli M — Google review

This is a world-class museum that is oddly located in Stockton California. They have an amazing collection of Leyendecker paintings. Some other fantastic artwork as well. I rank this art museum well above San Diego art museum. The staff is very friendly. Parking is on the street surrounding the park, it’s a short walk to the museum.

Exceptional, quaint and intimate fine art museum! We were more than impressed with the collection at the Haggin. We strolled and took our time in each exhibit, taking in history and seriously magnificent works of art. The Haggin is a hidden gem not to be missed!I recommend the museum store for interesting gifts, too.Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great museum. I had to kill some time while my car was getting fixed and the 4 hours flew by. Great view into the history of Stockton

Ian C — Google review

Very well done! It’s been some years since we last visited this museum & the improvements are quite impressive. The bright open interior accentuates the high ceilings, wood panel flooring, decorative moulding. The Fine Arts are beautifully showcased, telling an elegant story. The Historical Collection amazingly preserved. The Sci Fi Collection an amusing addition. Bonus: We went on “Free Saturday”, which happens once monthly.

The Haggin Museum in Stockton is a cultural gem! With captivating art and historical exhibits, it offers a delightful journey through time. The architecture is stunning, and the staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. A must-visit for art enthusiasts and history buffs alike!

Angel H — Google review

No spoilers but there is a freaky trunk on the basement with a macabre story… Don't judge the museum by the outside, there is no parking lot, its surrounded by a park where many ppl go, but when I stepped in, it felt like a complete different World. A contrast of local history and old tractors with beautiful paintings and sculptures from late 1800. Downstairs the rooms you look in through a window are so incredibly well put together and your mind travels back in time for a bit. As well as amazing Native American art…Highly recommend a visit, park on the streets and walk through the park to the front door. Its great, Im telling you.

Maurice A — Google review

The art museum is just about the right size. The history museum is a little small. However, you can get into both for the same very low price, and they complement each other. I have been three times, and I have enjoyed the traveling exhibits each time.

Lots of history in stockton.Beautiful place to spend on a nice warm SundayWith family.Gorgeous paintings and fun activities for kids to do.

Imtiaz K — Google review

I joined a senior group as a caregiver on my little adventure. If you enjoy art and displays of local vintage artifacts this museum holds some information you might find interesting enough to check out. From agriculture, to Stocktons harbor along with a Native American exhibit. They even have a gift shop toward the end if your looking for a souvenir or memory to take home with you.Elevators for the disabled and sturdy stairs for others willing to take that extra step. Restrooms inside as well as out in the park surrounding the area. Pop up shops sometimes selling snacks and refreshments. A small but fascinating place to unwind letting your mind explore the creativity and love of passionate people.

I'm glad I don't own anything here because I'd probably feel that I would have to insure it and I really can't afford it right now. I mean I can afford it but I really wouldn't bother to insure anything here if I owned it because eh, you know, if it got stolen I'd be like "oh, well" shrug. If I had anything from this museum I'd just probably donate it to this museum so in the end nothing really changes. I'm just glad I don't have to go through the hassle of donating anything to this museum, though the tax write off might be useful...or not because the standard deductions just make everything easier and I might have to hire an accountant because of the donation so in the end I'm probably losing money for being such a generous guy. 2 stars because my thoughts about this place made me realize that being a nice guy sucks.

Adventist Health Arena

Event venue

Hockey rink

Conference & Convention Centers

Circular arena on the water with a modern glass facade hosting sporting events & live performances.

I have to thank the Stockton Arena for allowing the annual StocktonCon to take place in its venue. It is a great local convention and my family and friends always have a great time when we attend! I have also attended ice hockey games and it is a great place to see a game. The sky boxes are very nice too. The hotel next to the arena is a great place to grab a drink and bite to eat, and enjoy the cool lounge area down by the waterfront!

I've been to this arena two times for AEW wrestling! Love the Set up! The parking setup is not that bad as well! Look forward to coming to events in Stockton from aew to Taylor Swift! I love this place

Watch our very first hockey game ever. This was a blast. The arena was a great place to visit. Very clean and well setup. Food and beverages was a bit on the expensive side. GO STOCKTON HEAT!

Albert L — Google review

We went to go see jo koy and it was awesome. Sitting on the side and having to turn your head to look at the stage sucked. The seats are to close and there's not to much space to walk through. Parking sucked too. Had to walk a few blocks.

Christina R — Google review

Fun for the grandsons walking around looking at the different vendor's wares and taking pictures with other characters. We went Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded. We will go again!

Here for a Jamz Dance and Cheer event. The athletes are treated with nothing but junk food and bathrooms without soap. Wonder how the people at the concession stands wash their hands. Strange the venue is called the Adventist Health Arena. Health in name only I suppose. Gross.

Dennis G — Google review

Let me just say, this is a great event venue. Attended here many times for my Jiu Jitsu world league tournament, and it is a great place. Concessions, many seats, even private booths! Clean and well maintained

This is disgusting and not representative of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. We must be hosting ungodly and worldly events that don't bring people to Christ or further the Gospel. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you

Gregory H — Google review

Great place for a concert, whether it's for one artist or several. Wide enough space for walking throughout the arena. Clean. Parking is clean and not hard on a car's tires or suspension.Unfortunately, there is little to no security to ensure any valuables left inside a car is safe. So better to put items that can't be taken into the arena, in the trunk. It's a little off the beaten path, not in the safest neighborhood, and a little hard to get out of once the event is over, but it's manageable.Having multiple vendor booths for a artists merchandise, is easy and does not overlap with attendees standing in concession lines. A plus!Concession only accepts credit cards, no cash. The arena, itself is great for concerts, even the seats on the sides have a good viewing of the stage, and sitting in these seats won't even cause neck problems.Security is pretty decent, nice, friendly. A few of the guards on the night I went, were a little rude, and invasive. Like they didn't know to keep their mouth shut or their voice down to a whisper, instead it was like they were at a boxing match cheering a boxer on, it was really disruptive. And the people who worked the Concession Stand, they were really nice, friendly, patient and helpful.

Pam — Google review

The place is HUGE!! Great acoustics! And if you wait to eat when you leave, there are food carts that have really good hot fresh dogs, sausage and grilled veggies. Cash, charge, pay pal and venmo.

Georgy P — Google review

Update: There was a huge line at the box office this morning. The line ran all the way out and down the road next to the parking garage. There were only 2 ticket windows open (out of 6) for the first hour. Plus, you could not buy tickets online. This place needs to get it together. People in line were pretty unhappy. They could also take another person and have them direct people to the ticket windows. That would really help speed things up. It was a pretty big mess. There was no one in line to get in the building because everyone had to buy tickets first. This place is a nice venue. The food is ok and pricey (but that's to be expected). They have a good selection of beer. We've watched hockey games, indoor soccer, concerts, our kids cheer compilations here. There really isn't a bad seat in the whole place. The hockey games are a blast. Really, the only downside to this arena is the location. You are downtown Stockton. If you use their parking garage, you'll be fine. But if you park on a side street, you'll notice that you aren't in the greatest neighborhood.

Brent L — Google review

Great place to see a concert! Easy to get to from freeway, ample free parking within close walking distance, loved the numerous smaller concessions and restrooms with smaller quicker lines rather than waiting in loooong lines at larger venues that only have a few giant concession stands. Friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks & food!

Mariana C — Google review

Went here for the Hot Wheels Glow Party Monster Truck event. Overall the event was alright despite some of the trucks breaking down but that’s not the main point of this review. The arena was very easy to navigate. The parking garage and getting to the front of the arena was a very smooth operation. Security was a fast process as well. The biggest downside is that there was a speaker that completely went out and we weren’t able to understand what was being said. Nobody came to check it out or the problem wasn’t fixed. Other than that not a bad place to go.

GraphixMain — Google review

Pretty nice arena. Parking was great, it wasn't sold out, but it's accessible. We watched the Stockton Kings and the kids loved it. The mascot would sign an autograph when a kid caught him alone, but it would always form a line. So he would tap his wrist like it was time to go. But, he tried. But I think he signed some after the game, also

Keith L — Google review

I would have given it a 5 star because every thing was great during whole event BUT the security guard older lady was very rude at the end. The event was already over and she asked to see our wristbands which was weird because I didn't see her asking anyone else and event was over people were leaving I was just waiting by the doors for my daughter to finish taking pictures with her coach. I feel she was being prejudice since we were the only darker Mexicans there.

Its state-of-the-art facilities, diverse event offerings, and commitment to excellence make it a venue that truly enriches the lives of residents and visitors alike.

Angel H — Google review

Nice arena. Very clean and easy parking for only $20 right across the street. Seats are very small, so we were a little crammed. Our elbows were touching. I only bought popcorn and water $7 each. Overall would go again!

Angie C — Google review

The stadium is alright and decent. Nothing really special to be honest, but it’s a good place to watch Stockton Kings games. There aren’t really many venues inside the stadium plus the food here is much cheaper, which is good. The stadium is much smaller when I got through and doesn’t seem to be crowded here. Not much hype here, but it’s okay.

The Gallo Center for the Arts, established in 2007, is a vibrant hub for the performing arts. It boasts two state-of-the-art theaters - the spacious 1,200-seat Rogers Theater and the more intimate 400-seat Foster Family Theater. The center hosts various resident companies such as Central West Ballet, Modesto Symphony Orchestra, and Townsend Opera Players. Additionally, it is home to YES Company, offering opportunities for young performers.

Saw Windham Hill in the small auditorium. The group was great & the auditorium is cozy & comfortable. The Gallo Center requires patrons to have the Corona vaccination or very recent negative test results so they are protecting us. Everyone I saw was wearing a mask too even though that was recommended but not required. However the state is requiring masks in all counties in a few days.

The Gallo Center is the best place to see a play or concert in Modesto. I was surprised a small town had such a wonderful place to see events. Parking is on the street or there is a lot about a half block away. The place itself is really pretty and it is kept clean and looks newer than it is. The seating is comfortable. Prices depend on what you are interested in seeing. You do need to get tickets in advance. Most of the seats have a good view. Obviously, the further you go back, the view fades. Try to get in the first 15 rows. The theater is not huge but it does seat about 1,200 people. This is for the main theater. There is another smaller theater called the Foster Family Theater that seats less than 500. I have never been to it.The staff is very nice and will help you find your seats if you need and with any questions you may have.It is really a nice theater.

Elizabeth L — Google review

I have been going there with my friend since you opened and we love every show ❤ . Thank you for all the joy you bring to us

Susan O — Google review

Very nice theater. It had 3 levels and the seating rows were elevated enough that even a shorter persons view would not be obstructed by the person seated in front of them. Drink and food prices were decent. Just to note when purchasing a drink you will need to purchase an additional spill proof cup. The cup is reusable. I would go back also, encourage others to visit the theater.

Prentiss J — Google review

I've been there twice with my Dad and I had a Fantastic Time. My first experience was to watch a Magician, Fantastic. The 2nd was to see a comedian, had more than a few laughs. The Gallo is an excellent spot with more than helpful personnel and a clean Environment.

Kevin C — Google review

The venue is nice and the theater is beautiful. The only problem is with the drinks. You can buy water, soda, coffee, hot chocolate, beer and wine, but........The only way you can take your drink back to your seat, is if you purchase a tumbler. Otherwise, you need to drink your beverage quickly before you go back to your seat.Although, the tumbler is $3, the drinks are not cheap. It's kinda a rip off. Otherwise everything else was fine.

Mic R — Google review

The Gallo Center itself is fantastic. Beautifully built, clean and well maintained. An amazing array of entertainment all year long for all ages. I gave it 4 stars because the concessions is mostly alcohol and strangely caramel corn or nuts. Just not much in variation there. If you're going to offer that much wine and beer maybe some crackers or something would be nice as well. Intermission is a wonderful time to have a little cheese and cracker snack with your glass of wine. Just my thought.

Donny Osmond last night. Amazing show. Fantastic time thank you very much for the amazing time. All the staff were unbelievable in the way they treated all of us , like we were the only one's in the theatre. Sold out show. I will definitely be going again. Thanks for the chance of a lifetime 😊

Modesto is very lucky to have this venue. We were seated in the last row of the orchestra (row X) in the wheelchair spaces and the view was great. I didn't go in the balcony but I doubt there is a bad seat in this theater. Ushers were quick to ask people to not use their phones. Everything was great.

Trevor M — Google review

Saw the symphony and was absolutely spectacular!! Great to know that Modesto is well rounded and has appreciation for the Arts. Impressive. Had balcony seating and the acoustics were phenomenal!! The views up there were captivating. Yes, you do have to pay extra to purchase an enclosed sipping cup for one to enjoy alcohol during the show, but totally worth it to support the Arts and to prevent from spilling drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Staggered seating throughout the theater. Clean restrooms as well as inside and out or the theater. The building’s architecture is quite grand and elegant. Tons of eateries & bars to try before the show that is in walking distance. Great location and will continue to watch shows here instead. ❤️

Our family has enjoyed Gallo in so many ways over the years. Our children enjoy school field trips here, we dress up for their Nutcracker ballet each winter, laugh until we cry at comedy shows, and sit in awe of the talented actors and musicians. We had one of our kids perform with Yes Company’s summer program, and it was moving to see so many talented youth on one stage.Gallo Arts gives so much to our community. To all the paid and volunteer workers, thank you and keep up the amazing work.

Carrizo Plain National Monument is a vast expanse of open space surrounding a salt lake, enveloped by wildflowers, grasses, and mountains. The area offers stunning views of mountains blanketed in wildflowers along the route to Soda Lake. Some spots are accessible while others require a high clearance vehicle or hiking. Visitors can also explore secluded viewpoints via off-road paths. The camping facilities are excellent and Soda Lake is particularly remarkable with its salt deposits and seasonal water levels.

Stunningly beautiful views! Very fun hikes, suitable for all ages. The visitor's center was small, but had a lot of interesting displays and information, and the employees were very friendly. I recommend coming early & plan on exploring all day long.

Dirt road. Beautiful mountains, green grass and some flower patches at this time of year. Beautiful music made by inhabitants. 😉 Very sunny (bring hat) but a breezy day. No restroom that I can see. Bring your own toiletries, water and plastic bags just in case 🙃 Be responsible, pack in, pack out, leave no trace. No restaurant, no gas station.

Mom D — Google review

Really beautiful are during the spring and especially if you can catch a superbloom. Watch out traveling over the mostly dirt roads from 133 after a rain which can turn the roads dangerous. Just a few small mostly self sufficient camp sites with vaulted toilets. Set up for smaller than 30ft rigs or tents. You can travel the length of the area in one long day allowing for a few stops for pictures. Great area for hiking. Can also find a few spots for boondocking, especially NE of the Wallace Creek Interpretive Trail on one of their higher roads which were built, but not used much. Adding a picture of the higher roads view as well as where I parked at Wallace Creek itself - really a very short hike.

Michael B — Google review

Carrizo Plain National Monument is an incredible experience that's well worth the trip. The camping here is great and the Soda Lake is something special - it's always beautiful, empty with its salt deposits or full after a winter of heavy rain. This place feels remote and truly out of this world. If you're lucky enough to visit during a springtime super bloom, you're in for a real treat.About 1-2 hours from the central coast depending on where you're located. There are no services once you get out there. Make sure you fill up with gas/battery, plenty of drinking water and snacks before you go.This place is worth the trip for anyone looking to experience the beauty of nature in a unique and unforgettable way.Highly recommended!

Chris M — Google review

Super bloom is here as of 4.7.2023 and not too crowded. On the way from entrance towards Soda lake, there is many spots where you can see mountain covered with wildflowers. There is few spots that are accessible too. There is some off-road which can take you to more secluded but majestic view points. You will have to take a high clearance car or hike to those points. Also, don’t miss the drive from soda lake to CA58 via 7mile road. Please be careful and don’t damage the flowers.

Mohammad J — Google review

The super bloom is on right now. What a totally awesome sight! It is one of the most incredible things to see. Word of caution: Don't go if it's been raining. Some parts of the road are unpaved, and you will not be able to get thru. But it's so worth the visit!

Barbara D — Google review

This spectacular landscape is a remnant of the grasslands of the Central Valley. I visited 20th April 2023 when the flowers were in full bloom and the normally dry Soda Lake and ponds were full of water. The sections with unpaved roads aren’t for the faint-hearted, but there was plenty to dazzle the senses entering from State Route 58 (the north entrance). Do the short hike at Wallace Creek to see the San Andreas Fault!

Christopher S — Google review

Visited in time for the peak of the super bloom and it was spectacular. We came in from the Santa Margarita side and stopped first at the overlook. Then we ventured to the visitor center. The best part was taking the unpaved road on the other side of soda lake. The flowers were covering the hillsides like a patchwork quilt. Bring water and snacks there are no services out here.

Mid March. Camping. If it wasn’t dry washboard, it was impassible deep mud. However, it was so lush and green and no one else was there…I would do it all over again. 30’ camper with Jeep.

Lisa M — Google review

So Beautiful!!! You need a lot of time to enjoy all of the beautiful flowers and scenery there . Or you have to coming back for more like I did. Remember !!! everywhere you going try to fill up your gas Bc the gas station was far so you can enjoy your whole day of trip.

Toan D — Google review

Too cold, not a superbloom but it was pretty. The drive out from slo was spectacular. The docent said wait till the weather is warmer , they'll be more flowers. This was 4/6/24.

Absolutely beautiful! A must see. Easy day trip from Paso Robles or if you plan to camp, get there early on a Friday! Weekends fill up fast due to very few camping spots.

Brian G — Google review

Bring a four wheeler if you come when it's wet. The main road is mostly dirt and sometimes mud. There is a visitor center with a provided outhouse. Don't leave trash, there's no trash pickup.

David C — Google review

This is a wonderful and wild expanse of grass and flowers in early to mid April, and if seasonal rains have been plentiful, there is a prehistoric lake that was once a sea floor bisected by the San Andreas fault. The small center is well stocked with maps, book, and free information. There is no fee to explore. Be sure to take food and water with you.

Michael M — Google review

It was long drive from Sacramento but it is a true gem especially when there is an awesome flower bloom in the spring. Most of the roads are paved exact when you get closed to lake. I could see it being crowded on the weekends.

Brian C — Google review

Beautiful but missed the bloom because it's been too cold! Also zero trash cans so be prepared to pack it in, then out! The park Rangers were friendly and helpful. They had a nice museum that was informative and a gift shop. Dog friendly but leashed only!

Springtime is a great time to visit Carrizo Plains National Monument. Even though we missed the major bloom as it was over there was still some pretty good color on the way to Soda Lake and everything is very green. The Goodwin Education visitor center was worth checking out. On the way back home on Hiway 58 the Bison were out grazing. Santa Margarita is a good place for lunch & a glass on wine.

So beautiful! We come back every year. It is good for family trip.

Youwen C — Google review

If your purpose to visit Carrizo is to see flowers, don’t go this year. Low water this year. The visitor center said it won’t bloom more this year. The best year is 2019 which I visited twice in 2019z unbelievable beauty

Lea L — Google review

It is for sure an amazing and very impressive nature monument and kept safe for a good reason. It feels a little bit like a slightly smaller death valley but with more green and flowers. Yet, not every year can be a “superbloom” year - and 2024 is not. If you are there, check out the nature education place, Selby campground if you want to stay the night, and the Caliente Ridge trail for an amazing and very impressive overview over the whole area. We didn’t visit the Andreas fold and heard mixed things about it. Next time I’ll check it out to have an opinion of my own :)

The Kern County Museum boasts an array of exhibits and artifacts showcasing the region's rich history, including its indigenous peoples, pioneer era, and significant role in the oil industry. The majority of the museum is situated outdoors, with various buildings available for visitors to explore. In addition to educational signage tailored for adults, there are also many kid-friendly displays. Visitors can expect a unique and enjoyable experience at this expansive museum, which may require multiple visits to fully appreciate everything it has to offer.

I came to experience the Bakersfield vibe, and the Kern County Museum delivered that and more. The Haggard house was well arranged. It was almost like being a neighbor. The whole experience was great, but the Bakersfield Sound building was like Hard Rock Cafe or R&R Hall of Fame, but pure country... loved it!

Ron R — Google review

Went primarily to check out Merle Haggard's old house but the whole place was delightful. Rich in history and wonderfully presentation.

For Holloween, this is ideal for families in big groups and children that tend to run around. Security everywhere and some vendors are generous with their candies. I recommend this to all patients, I do want to note every year the entrance to purchase on site and online e-tickets change every year. Read the signs for when you arrive to know where you are going, sometimes security will point you out in the direction you need to go. Also...NO! Baskets at entrance they will provide a bag.

Jessica C — Google review

This place is awesome! I absolutely recommend it. It's totally worth the money. Each exhibit is unique and lots of fun. Definitely stop by the church if you're feeling hot. You'll thank me later. This place is so huge that we ran out of time. We'll definitely return to see the rest!

Jenny L — Google review

While visiting Bakersfield for just 3 days, we took in the history at The Kern County Museum twice! Fascinating for kids and parents alike, we appreciated being in a safe place our kids could roam and explore. Thank you for having us!

Kellan M — Google review

It is more like a historical park with lots of historical buildings with old furniture moved/rebuilt there. There is also a small museum with interactive exhibits about petroleum exploration and a small kids museum. We spent around 3 hours going through everything. Kids had a great time peaking into each house to see what it looked like in the old times. We were there on a Saturday but no one was at the ticket window so we got in for free.

Betty H — Google review

Very cool! Looks like a little old town, lots of walking, shade, and you even get to go inside of the oil tower! If you have a CALM membership you can come for free with that too!

S S — Google review

Their event for Halloween 🎃 this year was great! Not too long of lines to get candy, not too scary for the younger kids, tickets were five dollars each and five dollars more to get a bag for candy. No buckets allowed since they give you the bags and you have to pay per person to get candy. Most of the museums attractions were open to view and walk through. There were some vendors there for food, coffee, popcorn and tacos. They had a projector playing a Halloween 👻 movie and they had some bounce houses for the kids. Parking was a little intense but we ended up getting super lucky with a good spot. Highly recommend for next year if you want to do something other than stay in or go house to house.

I hadn't been to Pioneer Village in about 3 decades. I had a friend visiting from out of town and decided to take him there. I was delightfully surprised to see how much it has changed and grown. At least from my faint memory from elementary school! Even though he's not from Bakersfield, he also quite enjoyed the experience.I loved the interactive displays to show how the equipment works. The transportation exhibit is really cool. I loved being able to see such a wide range of vehicles from different eras.It was very peaceful to meander through and enjoy the park-like environment on top of seeing all of the houses and buildings. The only "complaint" I have is that I didn't have access to quite a few of the different buildings since I was in a wheelchair. I understand limitations due to the nature of the historic nature of the buildings, but I was just a little bummed out.Otherwise I hope to introduce more people to this lovely little haven. 😁

Callie F — Google review

I love this place!! Best place to visit - you could spend hours and hours here!! The coolest collection of local history- both indoor and outdoor exhibits of great interest to All ages! Get here early so you can spend the whole day here! The country music building was especially cool 😎 they had historic outfits and instruments on display! Great way to get some exercise and learn about the history of the area- they even have fossils of sabertooth tigers found at the nearby tar pits! Go here! You won't regret it.

We went for Ronald Mcdonald's house walk for kids with Texas Roadhouse. There were Starwars costume actors that put in lots of effort as well as other this to do. It was so well done and a lot of fun. Very well maintained and clean. I hadn't been in 20 years since my last visit. Great way to spend a morning or evening and see or community's history

Kim E — Google review

Safe Halloween had always been a family tradition for my kids now I just took my grandsons for the first time and I thank all of you who are still keeping this event afloat. But I also seen that the community needs to help more for the kids!!!

Rebecca G — Google review

Beautiful place, with some interesting local exhibits. But most of the signs explaining what you're looking at were in need of maintenance, a good number of them unreadable. Also, the two biggest exhibits were closed on the day of our visit. It would have been good to know that before paying the entry fee.

Jon M — Google review

It has been almost 20 years since I visited last, and this museum is the most memorable history museum I all my years. It made such an impact on me as a kid, that I actually got into history in school. It was like taking a step beck into time. Everything interested me deeply, and i suggest taking your kids. Especially on Halloween. Their Halloween events are so memorable and fun to attend. You NEED to visit this place!10/10

Auburn — Google review

It was great to see the actual houses where people lived. The indoor exhibit was small, but good. It's almost all outdoor, though, so choose a cooler day!

Auntie O — Google review

My dad and I just visited and we were both very impressed. We could have easily spent many hours here, but felt that two was about right given our timing constraints. Most of the museum is outdoors, with buildings that you can peek into. They have many kid-oriented signs along with the standard adult-oriented signs.

Kate H — Google review

I was surprised and impressed by the depth and breadth of this collection. I moved to Kern County in 1996 but didn’t visit until 2022. Don’t wait! It’s great for all ages, something for everyone. There are several great exhibits covering the history of Kern County, it’s pioneers, influencers (think Bakersfield Sound and Cesaer Chavez), lifestyle and industry.

Sally L — Google review

I enjoyed seeing the various time period house's and businesses that were moved here. Really enjoyed the country music building with the show biz clothing, boots, and Billings. Have a tribute to Merle Haggard and Buck Owens, native Bakersfielders.

Live music venue

Buck Owens' Crystal Palace is a lively country music venue that also serves food and drinks. It boasts Buck's own music memorabilia on display, making it a must-see for fans of the genre as it doubles as a museum. The food is reportedly always good, with great service to match. Those who attend concerts there can expect excellent sound quality and an awesome vibe to go along with the music.

Buck Owens Crystal Palace. I'm so glad they reopened. I absolutely LOVE this place . The food was GREAT . I can't remember the name of my waitress she was great. They also had great music the Stampede was GREAT. Can't wait to return.

☀️ Buck Owens' Crystal PalaceMade it back to Bakersfield! The Crystal Palace is for sale, hopefully it will remain open, but there is a chance it will be closed for good soon. The idea for the Buck Owens Crystal Palace originated in the mid-1980s. Buck spent most of his early career performing in small, smoke-filled bars and honky-tonks around the country. He wanted a high-class place for country-western music to be performed. Buck also wanted a place where he could "be himself".There is a museum with numerous memorabilia throughout his career. Live music and great food. And of course the buck-mobile hanging behind the bar. Once made for Elvis, Buck used it in The Streets of Bakersfield video.

Jana W — Google review

Attended a concert with my wife. Had a delicious dinner, food was great and service excellent! Disappointed in our seating location, could not clearly enjoy watching the show. Sound was good. I have enjoyed the Crystal Palace many times since it opened. Food is always good and entertainment is usually good.

Surprised to find this venue here. Love entertainment and good food and drinks. Loved the history and the displays of Buck's life along with local celebrities and more current country singers.Good size dance floor and live band playing older and some newer country music. Definitely worth a visit.

Bob N — Google review

The venue is usually amazing, but I'd highly recommend eating elsewhere even if it's McDonalds, before going there, the food is extremely subpar. I've had better steaks from Walmart that are more tender and that's not saying much ..

Will T — Google review

Enjoyed this venue very much. If you're a country music fan this place is for you! So much memorabilia all over the place. Great picture opportunities. There is not a bad seat in the house. The environment and crowd was great. Brought my teenagers to see Charlie Crockett and we all had a great time. Tickets are affordable. We did not eat as kitchen closed at 10. I would see a show here again!!

My husband and I came from Texas to visit family and came here for dinner. I had the chicken fried steak and it was outstandingly delicious 😋 the green beans were to die for...I know, green beans! But the biscuits and honey butter were melt in your mouth good. Our server was so nice and did a great job.The place was so nice with lots of country music memorabilia, pics, and a live country band with dancing. A good family place to bring kids to dance. We had a great time. I definitely enjoyed this night out.

Had a great time last night, we really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. Friendly staff, food had great flavor, ribs would have been perfect if they would have removed the membrane, they were tender but, not fall off the bone tender. Loved the biscuits and butter.

AMAZING! Fabulous food, drinks, entertainment, staff and decor. So many wonderful pictures, guitars, statues. Ribs, taters, beans, chicken fried steak, onion rings, biscuits and ice cream were delicious. Beer was cold and delicious. The Nightlife Band was Wonderful. They played so many great songs of Buck, Merle, Dwight (The Bakersfield Sound), along with Patsy, Bill Monroe and many more. Great place to come for dinner and entertainment!!!!

I do t like giving 5 stars on many things at all, but I have to say that this place is worth the wait. Food is great, service is good and music and dancing inks fun. Just keep in mind it is extremely busy, a lot of people, loud and hard to talk, but worth the experience if you have the patience.

Douglas L — Google review

Absolutely love this spot!!!! Live music, dancing and great wait service. The food was pretty basic but this is the type of place that you go to for the ambiance.

Mandy K — Google review

Amazing place to dine at. First time me and my wife came here and it was definitely worth it. We got to see the famous Bakersfield sign, and also loved the museum part of the restaurant. The food was heavenly, i had a chicken fried steak sandwich, which was huge, and fries. Wife got a chicken fried steak meal, with baked potato, and loved it. Started off with some onion rings, which were divine. Ended the meal with chocolate cake, and oh boy, im glad i saved room for it. This place was really amazing, live music, cool bar has a Cadillac behind it, museum to wonder around and check out, made for a fun night. Definitely will be back here again soon.

An evening with friends with great country music and food. Special mention to Maddy our server. Very cheerful and smiling every time she came to the table. Can't wait to go back again.

Andy D — Google review

The vibe of the place was fantastic it was nice to walk around and look at all the pictures and memorabilia. However the prices were about $5 too unreasonable. The biggest surprise was the $10 beer. All in all good tourist place to go once.

Justin K — Google review

Went there to see the Buckaroos and our friend Kim, who's one of the singers. Had no idea she has the voice of an angel. Had a nice dinner. Waitress was awesome. New York was tasty for it being on the slim side. Dinner is pricey, but I get it. It's a shame the place is being sold.

The Big Red Barn, known as the flagship location of Murray Family Farms, is a must-visit destination on the outskirts of Bakersfield, California. It offers a wide range of activities for visitors, including guided tours, pick-your-own fruit sessions, and attractions like an animal train and petting garden. The farm also features seasonal events and a variety of farm activities suitable for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy picking their own fruits and vegetables or shop at the organic store for fresh produce.

What a lovely place! An oasis of colour and comfort. This family farm shop and pick your own is a joy to visit. The planting is a great mix of English garden l/Park and tropical. We couldn't believe our eyes as we were looking for a stop on a long journey and this place was beautiful and refreshing. The outdoor seating was shady and it was fun watching the birds. 10/10 to the owners. Happy place with happy staff

Paul F — Google review

So cute! It was a great stop on our road trip. The farm side doesn't open until October so we weren't able to experience the farm part. However the market was awesome. Fresh fruit, snacks, meat filled pies, and Mac n cheese. Plenty of seating inside and out. There was a huge parking lot and we were able to part our RV.

Kelsey A — Google review

Great place to stop outside of Bakersfield. They have a cute indoor produce stand with a large variety of fruits and some veggies. The cherries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Homemade pies in variety of flavors and sizes, fresh popcorn and a large area of pickled items, jams, sauces and honey (the cactus honey is amazing)! There is also a small deli area where you can get some hot sides or a sandwich. Seating outside on the patio or garden area to eat. They offer a u-pick, but I did not check that out. They also offer fuel pumps with both gas and diesel. If you need to fuel up, stretch your legs, grab some fresh produce or a bite to eat, this is your stop! The customer service is friendly and everything was clean!

Kathy M — Google review

Had the pleasure of stopping by and trying their Okie pies - absolutely delicious! The restroom was sparkling clean, and the staff greeted me with warm smiles. Honestly, what more could you ask for on the road? If you're a fellow big rig driver needing a quick 30-minute break, this place is a must-stop. You won't regret it!

Nice little road stop & gas station with craft food, drinks, and fresh fruit!Very nice place to stretch, with ample bathroom options available for the weary traveler!

The place is just amazing. They have various produce very fresh and delicious. Their main thing is jam and honey. They have so many different varieties of them. It is just cool some days that come and visit a farm and buy organic produce. we shopped here for over 200 dollars and got presents and a lot of stuff for the home such as jams, honey, and fresh fruits. I would recommend coming here someday just to enjoy the farm and the atmosphere. it is also very beautiful there. No tickets are needed.

Tetiana S — Google review

Good place to stop by to see animals, fruit, and farm. We went there 10 mins before closing so we didn't see much. Still we got some goodies and had a peek on animals there like goat and peacock. I highly recommended the mixed fruit pie (sorry we ate before taking the photo). Very good flavor and reasonably priced!

Tee P — Google review

It's definitely worth the drive. The price is reasonable and the attractions are safe and kid friendly. My son went on a field trip here yesterday and they let all the kids take a big pumpkin home at the end. My favorite was the goose named Frank, he really does look and react to his name 😂

Seslie M — Google review

Cute little spot for fall activities, even as an adult without kids. However, unfortunately, some of the activities weren't open. Maybe because we went on a weekday? We would have really enjoyed the apple cannons and paintball range if they were open. Otherwise, you really can't beat the price since admission even includes a pumpkin.. and good ones too! Also, bonus, SUPER PRETTY SUNSETS.

Stopped at The B8g Red Barn, Murray Farms, on our way home from Palm Springs. This was our first time stopping in here. We used the restroom and bought a couple of store items and got some ice cream cones and a date shake. Cool little spot to chill with the family and kids if you are looking for a unique spot. They have a petting zoo and a playground area for kids. I'm not sure if you have to pay to go to the play area but a very large area and a lot to do. They also have a chevron attached next door and plenty of food and fuel to fill up on. If we pass by again, we will stop in. They had fresh local fr I s and vegetables that is always a plus.

Patrick K — Google review

Great spot to stop by. Food was a bit overpriced but definitely worth it for the experience if you're driving by. They have a very interesting blueberry pulled pork that everyone should try.

Andi L — Google review

Was hungry & saw this place just before we passed the exit. The other farm type place we had stopped at they wanted $13 for the yogurt parfait. $4 here! Fresh empanadas, the peach was the tastiest I’ve ever had. Got some honey with comb, even the fudge was a great price. & you can dine in the pretty courtyard. Loaded up for our trip, legendary frog balls 😂, cucumber chips. Great staff, thank you!

Dan G — Google review

very clean, kind employees and you get delish fresh fruit w/gas purchase. was looking forward to experiencing their petting zoo, but anytime it gets over 100°F it's considered too hot for the animals so they can't open it for the public, certainly understandable. very interesting & kitschy place. I think it was worth the stop.

Brandi A — Google review

Best pies ever, best bleu cheese olives ever and best and so unique garlic baked chips! Definitely recommended. My husband and I were on a drive from Las Vegas to San Francisco and decided to stop here to the bathroom, luckily for us my husband noticed there was a nice store and a few things caught our attention. Unfortunately it was 105’F outside so we didn’t walk around the property but would love go back another time and get those amazing tasty pies again.

I visited for the first time this weekend after hearing my husband rave about this place and their apple pie! It’s a quaint roadside stop with a really big selection of food, including fresh food. We picked up two apple pies, apple cider, a huge chocolate chip cookie and huge peanut butter cookie, mac n cheese, a Thanksgiving meat pie, and a Spicy Ground Beef meat pie. The cookies were soft and delicious; and the Spicy Ground Beef meat pie was surprisingly spicy. The store and the grounds are clean and well-kept, and you can tell the staff love this place. We’ll definitely be making a pit stop here again the next time we come through the area.

The blueberry BBQ pork pie was great and my kid (picky-eater) loved it too. We had a blast doing pick-your-own citrus and it was a great experience for the kids to participate in agriculture first hand. I highly recommend this stop for families.

Tons of snacks for everyone to enjoy.or if your looking for a meal a hot bar for things like okie pies sweet and savory tastes and delicious to go trays of meats, cheese egg fruit and nuts. Came here in 2017 with our kids, and returned without them today. Google it to be amazed before actually seeing it. We were fortunate to arrive on a clear day, and right as a train was approaching. Carpinteria State Beach, located in the coastal town of Carpinteria, California, is a popular destination for those seeking a relaxing beach experience. It is known for its safety as the waves break far from shore and the gently sloping bottom reduces the risk of rip tides. Families often gather here to enjoy the sun and serene atmosphere. The area also hosts the annual California Avocado Festival, featuring live music and a guacamole contest.

Our family had an incredible time at Carpenteria State Beach! The views were absolutely stunning, and it was the perfect place for us to unwind and enjoy some quality time together. The kids had a blast with the beach activities, from building sandcastles to splashing in the water, and we also loved hiking the scenic trails nearby. The little town next to the beach was charming, offering delicious food that we all enjoyed. It was a fantastic trip filled with fun, adventure, and family bonding. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable getaway!

Alejandro P — Google review

Location, location, location! We had site 454, for a one night stay. It was right next to the beach. The campground is basically a parking lot with picnic tables, but having the beautiful beach right next to you is such a perk that who can complain? The bathrooms near our site were clean but looked kinda like antiques. The shower was clean I suppose, but did not look appealing to use (and we didn't). The shower appears to require tokens as payment but we didn't see a way to obtain tokens. You can easily walk to the tar pit park for a dose of "natural asphalt" if you like. Overall I would happily stay here again for a short visit.

Emily G — Google review

This is a family-friendly beach with miles of sand and surf. Plenty of space for all. Clean with some kelp here and there, oh and expect to come away with some tar on your feet. Offshore drilling is not far off in the distance. They have swimming docks away from shore you can swim to, which is nice, and where you might catch a better glimpse of the dolphins, seals, and pelicans that frequently pass by.Park on one of the many streets leading to the beach or in the parking lot that has an all-day fee.

SMK K — Google review

We have a huge family camp out here every year. It's beautiful and it's very clean. They offer showers (you have to buy tokens), the bathrooms are clean, and there a lot of fun shops near by (the candy shop was my favorite). You do have to book early as sites go fast in summer.

Pros:- 🏖️ Beautiful and serene beach offering various activities.- 🍔 Numerous restaurants and snack shops near the beach for convenient dining.- ⛺ Clean and spacious camping facilities with reliable electricity and water supply.- 📶 Good mobile phone signal coverage at the beach and campsite.Cons:- 📅 Camping reservations can be difficult and expensive, often requiring advance booking.- 🚽 Restrooms and showers at the campsite may be outdated and require coins for use.- 🌊 The beach may have strong waves and winds, and caution is advised due to the presence of jellyfish and sharks.

Cali E — Google review

The location is really nice, facility at the campsite is old but it works perfectly and water is really hot.The HUGE shame of this amazing location is the extremely high amount of far you get at the beach, you can’t save your feet unless you walk with shoes or flip flop.Water is dirty as well. Just go to the beach and witness this by yourself.A nice present from the people who installed the oil base stations a couple of miles away on the sea. As usual, money is more important than nature and the health of people.

Lorenzo P — Google review

Our family rented 5 camping spaces in April. Each check in was greeted with rudeness. They didn't seem to know what to do because one of our spaces didn't have a trailer. A vehicle space was included with each reservation yet they charged an additional fee. The bathrooms, spaces, beach area is really nice. It was the woman manager that had such a bad attitude and she is just an all around miserable person. She should take some of the time that she complains to the guests and work on her own issues. She caused alot of frustration when we were there to enjoy and relax.

Lorrie E — Google review

We stayed one night at site with RV water and power. Volts and water pressure was good. The sites was tight but hey! You’re on the beach! Could have been a tidier camp ground. This is what gives it 4 stars and I would stay there again. No dogs on the beach.

David B — Google review

We drove to the beach for the day. We did not stay at the beach location. We chose a hotel off beach sire. We learned for the month of May the sky is grey. I as so sad and did not realize since not from the atra. The beachbis always nice since there is camping and restroom facilities and many walking trails.

D B — Google review

Nice big clean beach. The waves were quite large which made it hard to swim. It was difficult to find parking on the day we were day as it was a week end and the temperature was very high. We didn't see any rubbish bins on the beach, there was one in a car park close by. The day we were there our feet and flip flops got destroyed by tar I'm not sure if this is a regular thing.

Joanne K — Google review

We live down the coast and made a quick visit. Not over night. Beautiful weather after rain. Very clear day.Nice picnic area and RV camping.

Saab B — Google review

This is a very nice well maintained beach. The walk sidewalk is a very nice feature, which I never seen before. It’s going on top of dunes and creates an additional character to the place. The only drawback for me was oil rigs on the horizon. They are not too close, but still noticeable.

Slav L — Google review

The campground is decent. The beach is okay, but BEWARE THE TAR.Our feet were covered in thick black oily patches that didn't come off until a whole day and 3 showers later.I can not recommend this beach to anybody due to the cancerous deposits of tar all over the beach and surrounding area. This place is probably just as dangerous as swimming in Fukushima prefecture

Campsites right next to the beach and bathrooms are pretty numerous and clean with showers just pack some food and a tent and everything else is provided for. Look forward to coming every year it's a blast!

Carpinteria is the best beach town in the US. Small enough to ride your bike just about anywhere, but all the amenities you’ll need. The beach itself is awesome as well.

Lou D — Google review

Carpinteria has another famous walk through fields of flowers and close to the beach which we enjoy. Didn't see a reason to pay the fee for a state beach mainly to walk and picnic. Seemed like just a place to camp. WRONG!!! Discovered that the fee is well worth the very accessible board walk and the walks each direction from the day-use parking lot. We also enjoy just walking through the campgrounds to see the creative ways people find to enjoy camping.

Pamela G — Google review

We stayed at Carpinteria SB campground, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The beach was heavily contaminated with tar, and walking on it left our feet covered in sticky tar that was extremely difficult to remove. It's concerning that the management team did not inform us about the beach's condition upon our arrival. Additionally, there was no soap in the bathrooms, which was unbelievable and inconvenient.Considering the price of around $80 for one night, which is not inexpensive, we expected much better. Our spot was basically just a spot in a parking lot. Overall, we were not happy with our stay and will not be returning.

The best Beach are for relaxing and have a wonderful time with the loved ones. All the crew is friendly and helps you with all your questions.

Ayudando F — Google review

Great beautiful beaches. Ruined by petroleum sludge from the multiple oil extraction platforms right in front of it. Either avoid it or come prepared with baby oil and wipes. They get on everything and it’s really hard to clean.

Jorge H — Google review

Lovely small campsites, get a bit crowded but folks are nice. If you are lucky to get an ocean-facing site, the smaller ones in the middle have limited space-ok for a medium tent. You’re not allowed to pitch on the dunes.Carpinteria has two sites where you can set up tents. Santa Cruz is the one to get and try to get the ocean facing premium sites. Some sites are in between two larger ones so they don’t have much room for large tents, but a medium tent will fit nicely, and you get your own private beach viewing spot. Both here and other CA state beaches, dogs are not allowed. There is a nice long wooden walkway from the seal to the beginning of the camping area.Restrooms and showers are separate.Retail stores are a 3min drive or 12min walk.Carpinteria is a cute town nice to walk around. You can see the oil rigs in the distance but it’s not bothersome.

Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve is a 52-acre oceanfront area offering hiking trails, green space, and scenic overlooks with views of harbor seals. It's an ideal spot for hiking, biking, bird watching, or beach walks. The preserve provides easy and beautiful hikes with an ocean breeze and allows leashed dogs. Visitors can observe seal pups while being respectful of their space. The trail connects to Bates Beach and the Seal Sanctuary, making it perfect for bird watching and nature immersion.

Stunning views of the ocean! This is a great spot to take a leisurely stroll along the beach or trails. Amazed at how clean it was! Watch out for the tar :)

Relaxing local spot for an easy hike, walk your dog, or bike ride along the coast. Opportunity to see whales & other wildlife. Optional trails will take you by the lagoon & through a few state campgrounds, ending in downtown Carpinteria with easier access to the beach.

I've come here with my photography clients and with my family. Such a beautiful and easy place to walk/ hike with the most beautiful views of the coast. It's not easy to get down to the sand from here as the only path I found was very steep- but the view was amazing. My photos- Holly Castillo Photography

Holly C — Google review

A nice, peaceful place to spend some time walking the trails amongst the wildflowers and wildlife. Beware the steep cliff here. There isn't an easy way down to the beach, that I could find. Parking is free and plentiful during the work week. Weekends may be a different story. Great views of the coastline, mountains and the Channel Islands.

The Carpinteria Bluffs is a great place to go on a quick walk or leisurely stroll either solo or with friends. It's also very dog friendly and would recommend bringing a leash and water for your furry friend, especially in the summer when it gets warm. There are lots of paths to explore in a number of combinations and is perfect for choosing your own adventure. Please remember to be respectful of the area and pickup after yourself.

Judd T — Google review

Beautiful views and easy trails unless you go down the bluffs to the beach. The trail along the bluff connects with Bates Beach and also the Seal Sanctuary. Good for bird watching and immersion in Nature. There are a set a of train tracks to cross to get to the bluffs, so be careful.

A.B. I — Google review

Beautiful walking paths along the bluffs overlooking the ocean and with ocean access. Also a spot to watch the seals below! Free parking, easy difficulty level of trails. A great time!

Free parking. Fit the description exactly. Definitely recommend if you're looking for quick but cool spots to checkout on your way on the 1. Glad we stopped by. Quick stop. Stayed maybe 15 min max.

This place is gorgeous. Such an amazing place to get away from the city rush - while being in a city. If you go from Feb - June you can see the seals taking over the beach. It’s truly an amazing space.

Karabo L — Google review

I love this place to take a walk see the sunset on the seals on the Beach

Allen C — Google review

It's one of my favorite places. People, if you visit this place, please do your part to remove your trash, plus one. There are no garbage cans, and a lot of people seem to think the bushes are an acceptable substitute. Take your trash back with you, please!

T B — Google review

This is a really pretty place to stop along the scenic coastal highway! It doesn’t take long to walk to the cliffs, and if you go there at sunset, you can get some incredible pictures. I always am extremely impressed by the California coastline, and this place takes the cake. Also be sure to go to the railroad tracks to get some nice photos as well! Be careful once you get to the cliffs - they are unstable and you could easily slip. Always be on the lookout!

Michael — Google review

Beautiful, serene walk on the beach. The walk from the bluffs to the beach will lead you to Rincon beach, from there you can access a different trail which runs along the train tracks back to the bluffs. But be careful as trains do pass there. One blew my hat off right off my head! The pictures posted were from a morning walk 830-930 am.

Cym G — Google review

Easily one of the most beautiful spots in all of California, if not the United States! Carpinteria Bluffs begins with a fantastic nature trail that overlooks the ocean. You can then walk down to the beach as long as it's not the season for seals (there are signs with more information). Dogs are allowed on leash.

Chelsea H — Google review

Short walk parallel to railroad and it takes you to seal watching spot. Saw many seals lazing around on the beach, it was amazing. There were also volunteers sitting there to answer any questions you may have. Overall, worth the trip.

Falguni D — Google review

A very beautiful view here. There is a cliff that drops right to the beach so that's amazing to look at. They have public bathrooms which in the women's there are no toilet seat covers! They don't even have a spot for them so it wasn't just in need of a refill they just do NOT have any. Gross. The trail is really nice and my dog loved it. The day I was here had a thick fog that was moving up the cliff fast and it made for a crazy, beautiful, and creepy view! Especially where the fog slowly covered the railroad tracks! See the pictures.

Kaylee S — Google review

Nice little trail to the bluffs when in season seals can be seen and there's naturists there to count and give information

Evelyn C — Google review

Perfect choice for someone who's just starting to walk for exercise. Super easy and beautiful hike/walk with an ocean breeze. Make your walk as long as you want c: (mine was 3 miles) Dogs allowed on leash. There were 2 seal pups when I went! ^_^ please be respectful of the seals and just quietly observe them. There's a nice man-made part of the trail that connects to the tar pits park and campground. On clear days, the channel islands are visible off the coast. It's one of my favorite places in the world to go when I need to take a deep breath and clear my mind.

We were here in November 2023 and had a delightful tasting experience given the varied selection of balsamic vinegars and olive oils, and infusions. After much deliberation we decided to get a big bottle of truffle infused olive oil, and two small bottles of white and espresso balsamic respectively. We like to pair them on sourdough and baguette and just about on any bread and salad, elevating the flavours of a standard home meal. We plan to be back soon to restock!

Eleanor B — Google review

Fun activity in the area. For just 10$ a person you get to taste a large variety of different olive oil and balsamic vinegar samples. My personal favorite was the garlic olive oil!

Yitz W — Google review

We really enjoyed an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting here. Super friendly staff. The tasting board picture could not have been more organized. Fill the cup, grab the bread and head out under the olive trees to sample everything. They have a tastings menu to explain each one. We picked our six favorites and had them easily shipped home. It’s an enjoyable tasting that will enrich your enjoyment of oils and vinegars for the rest of your life. 👍🏆👏👏👏

🫒I found this olive oil nearly a decade ago at McGrath Farms and fell in love with it. I can’t believe what a beautiful atmosphere this place is and I’m so glad it’s local. It’s absolutely beautiful and a beautiful drive to the entryway.! The balsamic vinegars are incredible also. You will savor them, I was in heaven here. Tastings are available. I believe $15.& save your bottles. They make stunning vases. If it’s your first time here, don’t leave without at least a small bottle of their basic unflavored olive oil and the basic balsamic to start. Yummmm 😋 🫒

Worth checking out this place outside of Ojai if you're in the area. The staff were friendly and we met their furry employee Penguin. We did the $10 tasting which seemed like good value (though the bread they served was just basic white bread). Try 21 different oils and vinegars - we ended up buying the Tuscan Herb oil and the Fig Vinegar. Had fun trying all the flavors. We went at the end of the season, so there wasn't much to see beyond the tasting room (the milling area was closed) but in the summer there's a bit more.

Highlight of our Day in Ojai: An olive oil tasting at Ojai Olive Oil, situated in the middle of an olive grove (and it was only $15 for 2 people). We had SO much fun sampling all the different types and paid the gift shop a visit afterwards. The staff was extremely wonderful with their recommendations. Sampling in an olive grove, surrounded by the sounds of nature, was so peaceful and grounding. Definitely a must for a trip to Ojai.

A diamond of a place. Very welcoming staff. Incrediblely relaxing outdoor seating, animals beautiful landscape. But their true gold is their olive oils and olive oil and balsamic vinegar flavors. The lemon, expresso, Tuscan herb and peach (wow) what flavor. Definitely want to go back. I did order a selection and are having it shipped.

Its easy to locate if you exactly follow the directions mentioned in the website. It's a beautiful place ,so calm and relaxing. It has tasting room where you could try a variety of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.I will recommend to carry some good bread . It's a family owned business and they are very friendly. The harvest season is in Nov and that is when we could see the oil extraction process. I would definitely love to visit this place again.

Swapna M — Google review

The bread was a little dry but it was worth it for $15. It would be great if they had a little more food options

Harshita D — Google review

Beautiful drive to get there. It's nestled in a beautiful tree lined picnic area with a neat and clean tasting room. They have a large variety of infused oils and delicious vinegars for cooking, baking, and dipping. The whole experience was a treat, and the ladies who worked there were knowledgeable and friendly.

Carole R — Google review

They give you a piece of bread and an ice cube tray to handle all the 20 something different oils and vinegars for $10 a person. They’re dog friendly and also have a small enclosure for dogs to hang. Tons of seating and everything tastes amazing.

A hidden gem, with caring customer service. Really enjoyed the olive oil tasting, and the gift shop had a variety of products made from their very own olive oil. They have a great olive tree patio area, got to enjoy a bible study session on the side =)

It was my fourth time in Ojai Olive Oil Farm.I must say, the flavors of their oils and vinegars are absolutely divine. My top picks includes:- Venigar Peach- Vinegar Espresso- Vinegar Fig- Garlic Oil- Tuscan Herb Oil- Lemon OilWhile they do provide bread for dipping, I suggest bringing your own French baguette for an even better experience. You can also enhance your visit by bringing along cheese, wine, and your own tablecloth, making it a truly perfect outing.

Dillon M — Google review

We had a great time this weekend doing the Olive Oil Tasting. They have over 15 different types of olive oils and you are able to sample them all for just $10. You fill up your cups with the ones you want to select, they give you small bread squares to dip, and they even have a beautiful, shaded sitting area where you can sample the oils. They have a large parking lot right out front and it’s in a quiet part of Ojai, which makes it really fun to drive to. The service was great and they did a great job explaining the different oils.We ended up buying our favorites which were Provençal, Lemon, Garlic, and Traditional Balsamic. I cook seafood often so the Lemon Olive Oil will go perfectly with that because it’s packed with a delicious lemon flavor. Also the Provençal was our favorite of the four main varieties, although many tables around us seemed to prefer the Andalusian, which has a more peppery finish to it vs the fruity finish that Provençal has.Overall a truly great experience and a must do when visiting Ojai. We drove up from Los Angeles especially for this and were very happy that we did so.

Zan L — Google review

What an awesome railroad! Love the historic locomotives and railcars, very well taken care of on the outside. I can’t say how I feel about the inside of the train as I never rode it, and I sadly never will as the last run was in June 2021. But I am very happy to say that I got to chase this train 3 different times, and I got the 3rd to last run. Sadly I couldn’t see the last run ever because I was busy that day. Oh well. This railroad will be missed

I think this could be a cool place. Due to Covid the hours and access are limited at this time. If you have kids or feel like a kid the train that served as the inspiration for the Polar Express is there. The actual train rides I believe are postponed for now. Enjoy!

We had a fantastic time on our train ride.. we did the 4th of july train ride and got to see the town of Fillmore and experience the town celebrating in style with live music and food and booths to shop at as well as antique shops off main street and a great car show that they put on. Just a wonderful experience and the atmosphere was ELECTRIC because of the whole build up towards our train ride. They fed us dinner and we had tri tip and chicken and potato salad and beans and garlic bread. All while traveling about 10mph during dinner. Great experience and the staff was amazing and fast and friendly. A 1 hour train ride ended with a awesome fireworks show at 9pm and we had a wonderful seat at the back of the train where all the passengers moved to in order to view the fireworks above usAnd get great photos. The atmosphere was amazing the whole time and i recommend anyone to put this on their bucket list because it sure was worth the money.. they put on a fantastic show and experience that i will never forget.

Our family made a short stop at the historic town center. It was such a beautiful experience like a going back in time type of situation. We made friends with a local family who advised us to come back specially during Christmas since the train and the Christmas decorations are the most popular during that season. We recommend you a trip to this city with the family, it is such an idilic town

Thank you for keeping the magic of Christmas alive. I can’t say enough good things about our trip on the Polar Express. They were able to maintain all social distancing protocols with ease while we took an hour long journey to see Santa. My 3, 5, & 7 year old kids were delighted by Jingles, the lovely and ever so talented elf, who was taking orders for Santa while entertaining with stories, juggling, and a puppet. It was hilarious and wholesome and just what we needed. Can’t wait to come back to see the other adventures they offer.

The Polar Express train ride was amazing, the interactive experience was just like the movie. Everyone received a silver bell, the only thing that would of make it better would of been meeting the Author 🎅 I have read this story to over 800 children as an librarian and really felt it was authentic. Highly recommend this during Christmas, children and adults wore their PJ's, I have my Golden Ticket!

The Mission Basilica San Buenaventura 1782 is a historic Spanish mission that features a church and gardens from the 1700s. The site also includes a small museum displaying local artifacts. Although they don't offer tours anymore, visitors can still enjoy self-guided learning using the provided brochure. The mission is considered to be beautiful and is appreciated as a great place to reflect on God's gifts and blessings.

Beautiful landmark, I really liked the garden. It had a serene and calm element. Definitely felt like I was in a sacred space. Not to mention the interior, extremely glad I was able to see this.

I loved the inside of the church, a little disappointed because they don't offer tours any more, we went with my son for a school project, and I had to pay $9.00 for both of us for a little brochure and a self tour. Although I have to say we enjoyed being able to self learn about the mission.

My recent visit to Mission Basilica in Ventura was a delightful experience, especially as it was to celebrate my wife's birthday. Despite its relatively modest size, the place had a charm that made our visit thoroughly enjoyable. We gained a wealth of knowledge about the rich history of the location, which added depth to our visit. What stood out about Mission Basilica was its tranquility, making it an ideal place for quiet reflection and engaging conversations.Mission Basilica may be small in size, but it certainly doesn't lack in character or historical significance. Its peaceful ambiance provides a unique setting for contemplation and meaningful discussions. Whether you're a history buff or simply seeking a serene spot in Ventura, Mission Basilica is definitely worth a visit.

Serene and beautiful! We really enjoyed our time here while we were visiting Ventura. It’s quite small, scheduling less than an hour would be perfect. This is a beautiful little mission of what is left from the original property. We took about an hour and a half to see the place because we like to read the informational panels, took pictures, and sat for a little inside the small museum to listen to the video explaining the history of the mission. The area around the mission is really nice, clean, and safe. As you step out of the mission, old town/downtown is located there with shops and restaurants. Their is a park located in the front of the mission my kids enjoyed running around, and the Ventura County Museum is located adjacent to the right of the mission, we also took the opportunity to see.

One of the most beautiful Missions that we have ever visited. Like going back in time two hundred years. You enter through the gift shop that's full of wonderfully painted artwork and beautiful crosses. The courtyard takes your breath away. Everything there is perfectly manicured. And full of colors. The Church is just amazing, like I said before it's like going back in time. We totally recommend that you stop in and take in the history and beauty of this amazing Mission. 👏 🙂

Six Flags Magic Mountain is a popular amusement park with many adrenaline-pumping roller coasters. It's perfect for thrill seekers of all ages, with something for everyone. In the summer, fireworks light up the sky over Valencia in celebration; in October, Fright Fest features dozens of Halloween-themed rides and attractions.

recently had an incredible trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain that I’ll never forget. One of the highlights was riding X2, the park's revolutionary 4D coaster. The feeling of spinning in mid-air while plummeting down steep drops was exhilarating. I couldn’t get enough of it and ended up riding X2 multiple times throughout the day. Each ride offered a unique thrill, as the twists and turns left me breathless. In addition to the rides, I experienced Fright Fest, which transformed the park into a spooky wonderland. The haunted mazes and eerie decorations added to the excitement of the night. Actors in costume roamed the park, surprising visitors and enhancing the atmosphere. The combination of rides and Fright Fest made for an unforgettable experience.Overall, the park’s variety of attractions and rides was amazing. From adrenaline-pumping coasters to family-friendly options, there was something for everyone. The energy of the park, combined with the thrill of X2, created a perfect adventure. I enjoyed every moment, and I can’t wait to return for more fun in the future. Magic Mountain truly exceeded my expectations! Thank you for reading this!

It's not too expensive to get through the gates but once in get ready to spend, spend, spend. You will spend a lot of time waiting for rides and food and a lot of money! We went this past weekend and waited hours for rides just to break down. Wonder Women ride broke down multiple times a day. Parts of the park are extremely run down and are not maintained well. Refill water stations not functioning and bathroom cleanliness a big issue. You'd expect better upkeep when charging $17 a beer and $18 hamburgers. An employee told us they plan to charge $20 a 12 oz beer this summer. Oof! We ended up making the most of it and enjoying our time together as a family. Good thing we spent time together because now I have to work overtime just to cover the expenses visiting this park. Magic Mountain CEO.... you can do better!

I have a tall 18 month old and I didn't realize how toddler friendly Bugs Bunny World is. They have a lot of rides that little ones can go on. They even have a small roller coaster that a 33 inch tall kid can go on. My child is 34 inches tall and he loved it. Obviously he could only go on rides that we went on with him, so there were some he couldn't do (plus some he was a couple inches too short for). However, I had a whole list of fun rides he was able to enjoy and he loved it. He giggled and clapped. We loved watching him enjoy himself so much. We went on the last day of their Halloween event, so he was dressed up in his costume and did the Halloween trick or treat trail with my hubby.

We were there on a Friday at the end of September, it was quiet during the day with a maximum wait of 30-40 minutes but most roller coasters only 5-10 minutes. In the evening, it was fright night, it got busier but with the express pass, we got in everywhere quickly. Super fun park, many roller coasters (3 closed) and really much better than fright night at Walibi Netherlands.

My all-time favorite theme park for thrilling rides! It’s a fantastic place to visit and has never disappointed me since I started going as a kid. Most rides are usually operating, though they might close some if it’s extremely hot or raining. To get the most out of your visit, go on a sunny or cloudy weekday. We went on a Monday after school started, and it wasn’t busy at all—barely any wait time! I recommend buying your ticket in advance but hold off on the Flash Pass until you’re there to see if you really need it. It’s easy to buy on the day if necessary. If you plan to visit other Six Flags parks, the season pass is a great option, especially the Diamond Pass, which includes free parking and entry to all Six Flags parks, plus a few extra benefits for family and friends. Definitely a must-visit for thrill-seekers!

Ghadir ( — Google review

It's my first time here. memberships and day passes are not clear to understand. For entry by car they charge you $40 per person to park 2 miles from the park entrance. The lines are long (I went on a Tuesday). The food is expensive and poor quality. come on! If you charge expensive, at least could be of regular quality? I bought the middle fast pass ($100) and i did wait in line anyway? Also you have to get an appointment to ride. Once you have used your fast pass ticket to ride, you can get another. I completly understand that you are a roller coaster monopoly but you don't even offer a decent service. I'm not basically complaining about the prices, I know I can go and pay it but the price-quality ratio is disastrous. I can't imagine how expensive an entire family has to pay to wait in line all day!

Nicolás ( — Google review

Despite 4 of the big roller-coasters being down for maintenance, I still had a really fantastic time! I recommend getting the fast pass if it's a busy day, able to ride so many more rides and not have to wait too long in line.

Amanda U — Google review

Had a blast with my girlfriend at Magic Mountain. Some of the rides were down which was unfortunate but overall it was a pretty good time. It was definitely hot in some of the waiting areas where they had probably 50 or so people stuffed into a tiny room or hallways with little to no ventilation or airflow. For that I am deducting one star. Other then that it was a blast. We got the unlimited meal pass which was 100% worth it. Practically paid for itself with the first meals. Definitely arrive early for good parking.

We went for my birthday and it was absolutely PHENOMENAL! We got prestige passes and even got front gate parking! I HIGHLY recommend the season pass if you live or will be visiting southern Cali!

Six Flags during Halloween is an absolutely thrilling experience. The park transforms into a spooky wonderland with elaborate decorations, haunted houses, and eerie atmospheres that truly capture the Halloween spirit. Fright Fest, their annual Halloween event, offers heart-pounding scares with terrifying mazes, scare zones, and costumed characters roaming the park. On top of that, you still get to enjoy Six Flags’ world-class roller coasters and rides, making it the perfect blend of thrills and chills. It’s an unforgettable destination for anyone looking to celebrate Halloween with excitement and fun.

Wonderful collection of coasters, but the park suffers from poor operations.X2 and Tatsu are world-class and worth the visit on their own. But, single train operations on these rides means painfully long wait times, so Flash Pass Platinum or better is a must for out of town visitors. Rides frequently get “delayed” with no ETA/explanation meaning you play roulette with your time at the park.It was 114 degrees on my visit - had to stick to my plans traveling from across the country and buying tickets in advance. There was not adequate A/C anywhere in the park! I was very disappointed at the lack of fans, misters, shade and indoor facilities to keep guests and staff cool. Kudos to the staff for toughing out the conditions. It took 40 minutes to enter the park in the morning due to terrible queue management for parking, causing plenty of road rage. Just some better signage could have gone a long way…I have to hope the Cedar Fair merger results in an overhaul to the guest experience at SFMM. So much potential and seriously great rides - this can be more of a national destination park at the level of Cedar Point with some relatively small improvements. Hope to make a return visit in a few years if these kinks can be worked out.

Today is the worst day to be at Six Flags. Why, no clue. We are diamond elite pass holders. You cannot past the ridiculous line. We have been paying for passes for years. Even when the pandemic struck, we still were charged full price. We do not even come to the park, but when we do, we attempt to enjoy it. This line was ridiculous. To make matters worse, there is no bathroom outside of the long line that goes past the water park and further back to almost the end of the parking area.I was told to use the gas station across the street to use the bathroom versus letting me use the bathroom. Man, worst experience ever.

Nora R — Google review

We visited it on a Tuesday so we do not waited a lot making lines, it's one of the best tematic parks that I have visited referring to atracctions and it have great roller coasters, the different areas are really good so I really recommend it.

Diego V — Google review

For parking they should offer a shuttle. Also, why park the early arrivals in the farthest away lanes? That's not fair! There should be many more opportunities to cool down. Rides with air-conditioned wait spaces like Battle for Metropolis, shops, restaurants, and misting fans. Also, so many things (drinking fountains, kiddie and thrill rides, diners) were closed or not working, it was ridiculous.More signage to know where the entrance and fast pass lanes are and more signage on the walkways. If your phone dies, you're screwed. The measuring tools used are skewed. My son was 53" at the docs, and here he couldn't go on rides for 52" minimums.Loved the Twisted Colossus and Drop of Doom rides and am happy to say most all rides I went on were plus size friendly.Lastly, the food is ridiculously costly. The unlimited drink option was awesome IF you can find a place open to refill them and the line isn't a mile long. The unlimited food option was not as great, as there were limits to sizes and types, also the food places all take 20-30 min per order, which is insane!

This was my first time visiting Six Flags. I do not recommend going peek noon hours in the summer. I happen to go on the hottest day in June. It's just too hot for walking, let alone getting on rides. Once the heat calmed down, I was able to enjoy the park more. I was very impressed with the different themes for DC and Marvel characters. My favorite ride was X2. I was told it was a fan favorite here at the park, so I had to try it. I thoroughly enjoyed X2. Come out and try the funnel cake options and take some pictures with your favorite superheroes. I would definitely go back to Six Flags to try Wonder Woman and Batman's rides. Superman was down due to maintenance, but the free fall on the sides was still operable; I decided to pass on that ride this time around.

Spooktacular night with Fright FestSix Flags Fright Fest Extreme has 11 haunted houses and 9 scare zones, with zombies, witches and more. The Haunted Houses require a Haunted Attractions Pass along with admissions or just get a Bundle ticket that includes both.Experience chilling rides in the dark. There was also a DJ playing music. Some of the actors in the scare zone could have been better; not very scary. Some rides and food places were closed. The app is not the most accurate for wait times. They had the typical attraction food. I was a little disappointed that there were not as many spooky treats and food. They had blood bag cocktails and candy apples.Be prepared to do ALOT of walking and wear comfortable shoes.

Before I explain my 4 star review, just know that it was a 5-star day because I made the best of a bad situation, and it was a bad situation. First, understaffing had locations we looked forward to, closed. The staff that were there had no idea what they were doing, where anything was, I asked about the fast pass and cash kiosks five times, got absolutely no answers. When getting food, the staff working were very hard to communicate with, again had no idea what was going on when we tried to use our meal passes everybody was confused they had to get a supervisor. Now, there were positives, the ride operators were great, they were lively, fun, knowledgeable, and excited to be there. I want to give this place 5-stars just because of the ride operators and the amazing roller coasters but the food service staff, etc.. made it hard to enjoy those aspects of the park. I recommend though, because the rides are so much fun. I’ll be going again and maybe I’ll add another star.

Really great rides! My group had a blast and spent all day enjoying the park.Prices aren't bad if you purchase ahead of time online.Parking is a nightmare, with no clear lane lines and countless cars ready to cut you off. Also, there was construction in the lots, and we picked up 3 nails, resulting in a flat tire! The biggest issue I had was the lack of water stations in the park. In near 100° heat and sun, this seems like a serious liability. You can wait in long lines to purchase a soda and ask an attendant to refill your cup with water, but at times, the attendants refused. It seems there's a discontinuity in the Parks refill policy, resulting in angry lines of dehydrated patrons and tense workers. This could easily be resolved by doubling or tripping the amount of water fountains. My whole visit I only happened upon one fountain!

I personally haven’t been to Sixflags since 2006.. My husband has never been to California- so this was our late anniversary gift.. It was FUN!! We had so much fun. We were there the entire day till closing!

I went into this with low expectations however I was soon proven wrong. The rollercoaster lineup here is unlike anything else I have seen anywhere in the world. The operations were slow and it was very busy so I do recommend buying fast track of some kind.Do not go into this expecting a theme park. Expect to experience some of the most thrilling rollercoasters in the world and you will have a blast.Highlight attractions for our group were Goliath, twisted colossus and lex Luthor.

Greg R — Google review

My family and I decided on getting season passes since it’s near home and fun. We had so much fun, I was disappointed on the food areas being dirty, they don’t clean up at all, and most of the kids area was not taken care of, so much maintenance needed and a lot of rides don’t work, we are looking forward to go back, have fun and maybe they can start cleaning and maintaining the place better.

Attractions are amazing! However, the staff is really in a bad mood all the time! I am not gonna write their names here out of respect.I am ready to talk to the manager or HR of this park. The only person who was in a good mode is the sir who was checking tickets in front of Batman. All of the others were like at the end of their lives.People go there to have fun and forget about their problems… unfortunately, people working there reminds them that everything is going wrong. Please take care of this issue asap.

We were in California on an unexpected trip, and since we had all park season passes for Six Flags, we wanted to check this park out. We are so glad we did! What a wonderful park with incredible rides, thrills and views! We are coaster enthusiasts and this park blew us away with the coaster lineup! I was nervous to ride X2, but the view from the top of the lift hill, around sunset, was breathtaking! I am so thankful that we were able to visit this park and make wonderful memories here!

Had so much fun going to six flags! The top three rides I recommend are Tatsu, Goliath, and Wonder Woman rollercoaster. I didn’t have time to go on it but I recommend x2, I heard it’s pretty scary and worth trying.Bought tickets in advance, parking was about 30 on a Friday. My tip is GO AS SOON AS THEY OPEN if you want to hit the big rides with no long waits. We spent about 6 hours there and we were able to hit about 13-15 rides.

Theme park

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is a water park packed with incredible rides and slides. It also has a lazy river, wave pool, and kids' area. The water park is open from June to September.

One of the best water park in Los Angeles with awesome thrill rides. We were having so much fun while we were here although the water felt a little cold for me. I think its perfect if you go on hot summer days and it has to be on weekdays as there are less crowd and shorter lines for rides and food.

So much fun and much needed with the heat. We got a cabana and we stayed there all day until 6pm. So much fun for kids and adults. It feels safe and everyone is in a good mood. We went in a large group of about 10 people and we all had a great day.

I love Magic Mountain for nostalgic reasons, but they need to do better for what they charge for admission. They want to charge Disneyland prices even though you won't see 1 character walking around the park, half of the rides are usually closed, there are no live shows, they took away the parking lot tram, and there's no parades or fireworks. Shame on them! They need to lower their admission price or do better!

My students had a great time on their Field Trip. I love the kind and helpful staff who had an enormous amount of patience helping the kiddos. 10 out of 10 and bonus points for the amounts of water cups they gave out without having an attitude like the staff at Knotts 👀

Me and my boyfriend have season pass for Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags and we love it. However, the tubes in the wave pool are annoying. I think people shouldn’t be allow to use them there because the waves push the tubes towards other customers and it makes our experience not too fun.

Kids love the rides. But when you make a mistake, they make you pay. Supervisors w attitude at the gate. Very disrespectful, and I ask him several times not to talk to me on his tyrant voice. He wanted to remove me from the park by calling the rentacops. I hope service improves. The food is one of the worst in the park. They need to do an overhaul to the entire menu. Why do I pay more for privileges parking entrance and end up in the big pile and park all the way back when I have a handicap ♿️ disability? Have to walk for 15min to the gate and no shuttle near us. This was the 2nd oficial day of summer! I spected full shuttle service and personal.

We got there around 5 p.m., and it's not packed like how it usually is. There is virtually no wait time. We were able to ride 9 of the major attractions in the. Definitely will be coming more often during the afternoon hours, 3 to 4 hours before closing time.

Had a terrible experience in this place. Today was my worst experience ever in a water park. It is not worth the money that you spend on that. It was incredibly crowded and they don't have any plan to manage that crazy crowd. They haw a few rides and half of them did not work, the other rides suddenly stopped in the middle of the day and nobody was responsible for them. It was terrible. Nobody knew what was going on and our time was wasted clearly. You have to wait in line for any ride for at least one hour which means you can only have a chance to use two-three rides the whole day. It is really time-wasting because they are very slow. Lines go forward extremely slow. The number of tubes is surprisingly small and they obviously force the customers to rent tubes. Because you can use some rides without a tube and if you don't rent you have to stay for hours to take a tube.Parking is 35 bucks and you have to walk a long distance to entrance. They will answer to this review and write that there is a shuttle. They mean a shuttle full of people and you have to wait for it under harsh sunlight for more than 15 minutes.I will never go back there and I will recommend to my friends to avoid this place.

Amin K — Google review

The park is kind of worn down and dirty...almost the same as I remember as a kid but 20 years later. My biggest issue was the price. Price of tickets was fine at $50 per person, but I didn't realize how expensive everything else would be. $50 parking, $18 hot dog, $35 all you can drink cup, and $25 tube just to get you started. Then there's no extra space to put your stuff so you need to buy locker space or private seating if you get there too late in the day unless you want to set all your valuables with other people's stuff. (When we got there a lady was freaking out because someone stole her sandals.)Disney charges only $35 for parking and roughly $4 for snacks and sodas. (Roughly half.)Which would be okay...but the park isn't that updated. The entrance signs are completely worn out. The tram smells like weed. The slides are all rusty.I got the season pass initially...but now I am reluctant to go back knowing I will need $50 for parking and $60+ for food for my family of 3, plus the cost of all the rest of the stuff in the park. That being said, the slides were still fun. My son had a blast...but for that amount of money I think I will go to one of the bigger and cleaner parks.

I went here last summer. Overall it was great. But half of the slides were closed the floaters were dirty. Bought a fast pass but still had to wait a line. One of the slides scratched my back. There was 3-4 slides that made me get so many burns and wounds. Overall the water temperate was perfect, the lifeguards were really nice. Would visit again but hopefully all the slides will be open 😄

We have season passes to Six Flags and hurricane Harbor. We’ve been three times this week and had a blast. The lazy river is tons of fun the wave pool and the kids area with the splash bucket. Super cool. All of the staff are extremely friendly and very professional, the lifeguards engage in conversation, but only for a minute, so they can continue to do their jobs we went in the lazy river And spent hours there. You have to be careful for all the leaves and we did get stung by a bee went to the first aid station and they gave us some sting pad to help with the stinging. Nobody was allergic so we were able to continue our day, we got burgers Chicken strips and fries the burger is really good and made with real cheddar cheese has a secret sauce and some lettuce was hot and tasted good. The chicken nuggets were hot and also tasty and comes with a variety of dipping sauces. The fries are cold, but you could get chips if you want it we get free refills with our collector cup, it’s a little costly to rent the rafts but we got lucky and were able to find a couple that are nice set of people said we could use because they were leaving. There’s a Lotta nice people and the food is good. I’m grateful that there’s no smoking I just wish there was no drinking allowed, don’t think water sports and alcohol mix well and one of the bathrooms smell just like a wet cigarette. I think there needs to be a little bit better security just to avoid anyone smoking in the bathrooms drinking or doing drugs considering it’s a family park with lots of small children. 10 out of 10 would totally recommend checking out the water park during the week it was busy but you’re able to get on everything and the lines for all the waterslides didn’t seem like they were more than 10 minutes each. Some of the larger slides are not working at this time, with no reason given I would recommend water shoes for sure. Bring a nice beach towel, drink plenty of water and sunscreen as a must regardless of whatever your skin tone is the sun is super bright and with all the water it reflects off and you could get a real nasty sunburn. We’re looking forward to visiting a few more times and are considering going on a road trip to visit the other Six Flags in Texas and up north along with the hurricane harbors maybe even the one in Arizona will keep you updated.Went for another visit and was a little bit disappointing that there was a gentleman sitting in the food court, smoking a vape think there should be more security. This is a family park with lots of families I understand people have habits, but keep those for Hometime not in front of our children what you do on your own time is up to you, but drinking and smoking at a family park is unacceptable.

I have a handicap teen who was not taken care of during intake. It wasn't until 3 rides in that one attendant recommended that we get an ADA pass. We found out what that was and applied the next day. However, many of the elevators did not work. We found one that did. One only out of the 12 rides we took. That's not very good. Nor was I impressed with our initial customer service care. But the rides were good with very little wait times, as we went in the middle of the week.

Factory Outlets

Located conveniently between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, Camarillo Premium Outlets is a shopper's paradise with 160 retailers offering great deals on popular American and British designer labels. From Michael Kors to Ted Baker London, the outlet mall has something for everyone. When you need a break from shopping, there are various dining options available. Additionally, nearby Old Town Camarillo offers a more unique shopping experience with its boutiques and specialty stores.

I come here once or twice a year to shop for myself and for gifts. I visited again in February. It was not crowded and the weather was cool. There were many sales going on at all the stores. There are several restaurants with inside and outside seating. This outdoor mall has a lot of benches and other seating areas. There are plenty of restrooms that are clean and well stocked. There are three sections of the outdoor mall. I try to get there before it opens at 10 AM, grab a coffee from Starbucks and plan my route. By lunchtime it gets pretty crowded. During the end of year holidays it can be difficult to find parking (which is free).I prefer to to go to the stores I really like first, then while walking around a section, stop at other stores.I park near a store I frequent, then when finished with a section drive to another.Sales go on continously - often you will receive discounts on top of the posted sale price. To treat myself when I come here, I often stay at the Hampton Inn, over night, which is practically across the street.

The place is nice and huge. The stores don't have a lot of discount from regular prices. But the variety of stores found here is amazing. We parked in one spot and then moved the car to get to another side of the plaza. You probably can't do that in November and December.

Interesting place, with a wide variety of stores. Be prepared to walk a lot, since some stores are very far apart from the central area of the mall. The maps are scarce... Very small food court with few options. You can find reasonable prices, depending on the store. There are coupons available in the Simon app. It is about 1-2h drive from the LA area, depending on your location.

Perfect place for shoppers to be at, there's so much to choose from, and it's very big, so be prepared to walk a lot, and thankfully, there's bathrooms in each complex. Beware, the cellular coverage may not be that great, meaning the connection in the outlet is not that great. And there definitely needs to be more food stores.Overall, best place to shop right now.

Ahacool K — Google review

A good outlet to shop for designer products with prices that are cheaper than at the real boutiques.Since this outlet is styled differently, you will have to move your car between stores that are far away.

There are a handful of stores here that are worth the crowds. However, the prices lately and the quality in stores like Saks are just not what it used to be. Saks used to be my go to for everything last minute but the selection just isn’t worth writing home about. I keep hoping they will up their game and have more selection for the average camarillo woman, but still nothing. The parking is a pain, people have no consideration when driving through here and the lack of consistent security is disappointing. I haven’t given up yet as I still keep going back. It would definitely be nice if they were to enforce no smoking. Otherwise the concept and location are fantastic.

Sure, there are probably others in the SoCal region such as The Citadel, but mind you, the Camarillo Outlets offer ten times more than most other places in the region. Sure there’s not much to look at like at The Citadel, but if your business is to shop till you drop, look no further than Camarillo. Best to go on a holiday weekend where you can snag all the good deals. Yes, it can be crowded and sometimes parking can be a long struggle and people do casually walk in front of your vehicle as if they’re oblivious to everything around them, but as far as outlets in SoCal go, Camarillo is pretty up there. Still have yet to visit an outlet with as much stores as Camarillo. Word to the wise, though, wear some comfortable walking shoes. Even if you don’t plan on depleting your savings to buy everything your eye catches, you will inevitably be walking pretty much the entire time you’re there (unless you wanna risk driving from one plaza to the next). Food court doesn’t have much though there are a few good restaurants scattered about. All in all, Camarillo is as spacious an outlet as you can get. Grade: A

Jonathan L — Google review

Good stores but not much is on sale —generally speaking. Don’t come here expecting amazing prices, literally not the case. It is clean and spacious though.

Josie Q — Google review

Whenever I'm in Los Angeles and I want to shop, I go to Camarillo outlet mall. The mall is 45 minutes away and it's HUGE! It's got every store I love, and they keep adding more and more. The prices here are the best and it's so easy to move around. There are 3 parking lots with stores all around which makes it easy to just stroll around, shop, put the bags in the trunk of the car and continue shopping. That way your hands don't hurt from carrying all the bags. There's always parking and we just take our car from one parking lot to the next 🤗

Elisheva B — Google review

Plenty of parking on a Friday morning, clean restrooms and lots of stores to shop. Safety and precaution methods are bring applied to maintain everyone safe. Noticed they have signs in the benches to maintain social distancing. In the restrooms they even blocked off some faucets to leave enough spacing. Out1side of stores, there are lines to go into stores and keep a distance between each other. Inside all stores masks are required. I didn't shop today, I stopped by at the cracker barrel for breakfast but was very impressed with the safety measures in this location.

CAFSoCal - Commemorative Air Force So Cal Wing is a hidden gem in Ventura County, dedicated to preserving the history of combat aircraft flown by all US military services. The facility offers vintage aircraft, military artifacts, warbird rides, and air shows. Visitors can witness volunteers working on aircraft restoration and enjoy personalized tours by enthusiastic team members who are passionate about their subject.

Great air museum! I would highly recommend this museum to anyone who is interested in WW2 and early jet aviation. The volunteers that work here are super friendly and have a wealth of information to share.

Nate P — Google review

Such a wonderful experience for both adults and children. We learned history, mechanics abd airforce jargon. The docents are knowledgeable and great with the kids. The best part was talking to the old timers while sitting down to eat lunch. They have great stories!

Barak B — Google review

I visited here on Sunday 13th March. The quality of the aircraft and exhibits were excellent but what made it exceptional was the personalised tours by the team of volunteers. They obviously love their subject and the enthusiasm is endless. Special thanks to Mike who made the visit so enjoyable and memorable. I came over from Scotland with my mate for three weeks and we toured many museums in the southwest including Pima, chino etc but this one will stick with me. Five stars is not enough. Thanks for an amazing visit.

Wow what a wonderful discovery 👏We enjoyed visiting and discovering new things about our past ... the little ones were boisterous and still our tour guide remained patient and calm ... it was wonderful to watch my Air Force Guy ... remember the past with respect and awe

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, located in Simi Valley, is a captivating historic destination offering stunning exhibits and breathtaking views. Visitors can explore the 243,000 square foot facility which includes displays on President Reagan's life and his time in office. The museum features a retired Air Force One aircraft, a replica of the Oval Office, and numerous artifacts from Reagan's presidency. Additionally, it serves as the final resting place for President Reagan and former First Lady Nancy Reagan.

One of my favourite museums!!! It's so well made. Very nice exhibition, with a lot of old photos, everything is well explained, loved seeing and visiting Air Force One, and some other nice planes! I'd recommend it 150%, it's so cool. Plus it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere so the view around is great! 10/10

Me and my family actually came here for the Star Wars exibit . I had never been to a presidential museum. But it was very exciting to experience learning more about Ronald Reagan. They even serve food. I recommend the chili and cornbread . The staff was very friendly and informative. We really enjoyed ourselves .

Antione K — Google review

It was my dream to see President Reagans Presidential Library in person. What an experience you have to come see the oval office and to relive history. I loved going on Air Force one and marine one and seeing all the personal stories and many personal belongings of the president a must see. I even bumped into Michael Reagan what a treat!!! It's about one hour from lax airport area and I took an Uber cost me 70 dollars each way.

Joshua R — Google review

Probably the best of the six Presidential Libraries I've been to. The museum effectively tells a story and main attraction is the real life Air Force one that Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr all flew on. Furthermore, the library is very active within the Californian community, hosting leadership programs, music, book signings. I was lucky enough to be apart of their great student leadership program which had some of the coolest people on both the student and staff side. Also, limited edition exhibits at the library are always Interesting.

Greater N — Google review

My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves at the library. This was my first time visiting. They don’t make presidents like Ronald Reagan anymore. We also visited the Auschwitz exhibit. Absolutely amazing!I’d highly recommend this as a place to visit. 👍🏾

Dwayne S — Google review

A must GO place for the family. Very informative and such beautiful and interesting museum. Lots of things to see from reagans memorabilia and their stories from the start. They also have the classic aircraft of air force (one) and the marine (one) helicopter presidential aircraft on the premises. They also have places in there where you can dine in. They have outdoor seating area where you can eat and enjoy the view of valley. Parking sometimes are limited near the museum. If parking is full, you have to park outside on the curb. But there is a shuttle that will give you a ride and bring you near the entrance. Come early or come late afternoon around 3. It should take at least 3 to 4 hours for the tour.I would like to bring the attention to the management regarding some patrons who are too loud while the video was playing. This patron was just too loud, overpowering the audio and he didnt seem to care that there people who are trying to watch the video. Him and his wife whos voice that got our attention. He might as well be the speaker.

D P — Google review

Amazing Museum bringing us back to an important era of history. The museum does a great job of telling the story of Ronald Regan from childhood through his many experiences, which prepared him for leadership of this country during a time somewhat similar to today. Exhibits also recount the story of the love story between the former president and Nancy. The exhibits are interesting, and the highlights for me were the replica of the Oval Office containing actual Regan artifacts, Airforce One and the piece of the Berlin Wall which you will see at the end when you go outside. I highly recommend fitting this museum into your travel plans with its beautiful backdrop of rolling hills with incredible views.

K G — Google review

This is a beautiful museum! The grounds are beautiful and emasculate. All the staff is super friendly and helpful. Inside is very nice and exhibits are done very nicely. We also saw the Auschwitz exhibition. Which was put together beautifully for something that was so horrific.I didnt take to many pictures it didn't feel right but did take some pics of the art that was pretty moving.Second time I have visited this museum and not disappointed. Will definitely go back.

Laughter H — Google review

What a great presidential library and museum! The food is also really great as well. From checking out the actual flower bouquet that Nancy used at her wedding to walking through an actual air force one plane, there is tons to see. Current Star Wars exhibit is pretty out of this world as well!

Amanda L — Google review

This a mammoth facility with impressive grounds and amazing exhibits. I literally ran through it and it still took two hours! Anyone who actually reads the placards and listens to the audio offerings should count on 4 to 5 hours. The view from the library overlooking Simi Valley out to the ocean is worth the price of admission alone. Navigating the complex can be tricky, so take a look at the brochure’s map before embarking or you will miss something. Also note that you can walk inside Air Force one and the helicopter. I would skip the audio tour, which costs extra and relies on a device that you must place next to your ear; this needs to be updated to headphones/earbuds.

Wayne C — Google review

Beautiful Museum with incredible views of the surrounding landscapes. They often have special exhibits which usually require a special ticket but always well worth it. Ample parking and a really good Cafe to have a bite while visiting.

This was a great experience to learn about one of the greatest presidents in our history. The staff is also very helpful and full of knowledge about the exhibits

Antony D — Google review

We enjoyed our experience at the Reagan Library. The staff are very warm, helpful and informative. The exhibits were well done and provided plenty of context and information about the life and impact of our 40th President. The highlight of the tour was walking through Air Force 1 and the Marine 1 helicopter.

Andrew — Google review

Brought my 19 yo daughter to Ronald Reagan Presidential library. This month they have Star Wars in rotation, so an extra fun bonus while learning about our history and all of Ronald Reagan's and Nancy's adventures. The location in Simi Valley is gorgeous, the gardens were beautifully maintained, the many employees were informative and guided us through each area. There is plenty for pre-teens and teens to enjoy;a platform for speeches given was neat to see how the words moved depending on how fast you spoke, there is a photo op area where you can sit on a fake horse with Reagan in the background, a replica of the Berlin wall you can read the inside while crawling behind the wall, a tour through the retired Air Force One and the helicopter and there is jets on the grounds outside the library. The current Star Wars gives history of the director, the filming itself and some authentic pieces from the films plus it ties our military Star wars to the displays. The food in the cafeteria was surprisingly good for cafeteria style. Lots of choices, soup. Pizza, burgers, salad, sandwiches, etc. We chose to eat outside on the deck to enjoy the scenery.

Melissa T — Google review

Visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library last Saturday with family. The views were stunning and the exhibits were very informative. Enjoyed the best burger ever at The Gipper's Bar – the Reagan bbq ranch burger was delicious. Highly recommend!

Sanghyun N — Google review

President Reagan's library is the fourth of 13 presidential libraries on my bucket list, and by far, the one i was most looking forward to visiting. It was fantastic!Aside from re-visiting the 80s again -- my favorite era -- being able to walk through Marine one and Air Force One and BE where history was made was SUPER cool!Had I known the Auschwitz display was in residence the day we visited, we would have come earlier and did both. Regardless, it was a great visit to a beautiful museum on a picture perfect day. Five stars easy!

Chris R — Google review

What a remarkable museum! There are lessons to be learned at every corner of this stunning site. Although I was very familiar with the Regean presidency, and many historical milestones referenced throughout the extensive experience, I left feeling enlighten and educated about the type of people both Ronanld and Nancy Reagan were. Regardless of political parties, there is much to appreciate about history, beauty, and the inspiring lessons to be learned while visiting here. Also, the outdoor picnic area is ideal if you want to enjoy some birdwatching while savoring a meal. During our visit, we were privileged to see both hummingbirds and California Scrub-Jay.The audio tour added some additional insights and context to the physical exhibits. Also, the chance to walk through a retired Air Force One plane is pretty amazing.

Sabrina C — Google review

This was our second time visiting the library. It is always an emotionally moving experience to witness President Reagan's accomplishments as both Governor of California and as President of the United States. He was definitely a man of his word. The staff working as ushers and tour guides are all pleasant and ready to assist everyone.Security staff are all visible providing a safe environment.Highly recommend a visit.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is the presidential site and burial of Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States of America, and his wife Nancy Reagan.A worthwhile visit to this museum, very informative. It pertains to his achievements and contributions as a public servant of Ronald Reagan. Don’t miss to step inside the Air Force One and Marine One.Located in Simi Valley California. If you don't pay for a tour, there's not much to do, but beautiful scenery/overlook if that's all you're looking for. I've heard the tour is great, but we opted not to for the sake of time. Got some nice pictures with a piece of the Berlin Wall.

The Nethercutt Museum is a remarkable collection of vintage automobiles, antique furniture, and mechanical musical instruments. Founded by J.B. Nethercutt in 1971, the museum showcases over 250 American and European classic cars dating from 1898 to 1997. The collection includes vehicles from various eras such as Antique, Vintage, Classic, and Post-War periods.

The cars in the collection are beautiful and you can see them for free which is nice of the owners to let people enjoy their collection. Eduardo explained to us the history behind the collection and gave us a lot of insight to further appreciate the collection. Would definitely go with plenty of time so you can truly take in all the detail and beauty of each vehicle.

We were only there a couple hours (we didn't get to see it all). There was so much history held in two beautiful buildings. The tour guide and docents were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. If you are a fan of old cars and/or history, the Nethercutt Museum is worth your time.

The museum is awesome, but if you go you have to do the $10, 2 hour tour in the building next door - that’s where the real show is. Exquisite cars and things from times long ago. 😀👍

Brian W — Google review

There were so many fantastic classic cars, music items, typewriters, hood ornaments and other items that my head almost exploded! I'll have to return several times to begin to appreciate the quality of their offerings. This place may be the definition of trying to drink from a firehose.

It was amazing! The cars were beautiful and immaculate. The musical instruments were also amazing. The tour guide was great! So informative, very knowledgeable about everything there, knew the history of the family and all of things there. The other workers were also wonderful. The train was also cool to see. Very cool experience and well worth the money. I highly recommend the guided tour.

Every time you walk into a room it is breathtaking, I won't spoil any of the music rooms on the tour, but when the curtains open it is so cool. Also you have to check on at the actual museum before.yli go to the music tour

I love this collection. I always see something new when I visit. Bill is a great tour guide who helps you understand functional fine art.

Matt R — Google review

This part of the museum is free and definitely worth a visit. Check out the website to see when the tours of the train are scheduled. To get a full sense of the collection, I highly recommend scheduling your visit around the tours of the collection next door. It is only $10 currently and takes 2 hours. Note that a lot of the pictures in people's reviews are from this special tour so at least try to figure out the details how everything is situated to avoid disappointment.

Incredible collection of vintage cars. Immaculately presented in neat rows.A few modern classics as well.Free entry. Plenty of off street parking and all wheelchair accessible.

You will love this place. I'm not a car enthusiast, but I love it here. The museum is free, but the Nethercutt Collection building is $10 and reservations are required. It is totally worth this price and much more.Cars are immaculate. They drive all of them on a regular basis. Stunning cars and one of the best collections. My favorite part is the very large collection of rare self-playing musical machines!!!The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ is spectacular to hear with its 5000 pipes. Made to be housed in silent movie theaters. They are all meticulously cared for. They are stunning. Also amazing collections of hood ornaments, dolls, coins, crystal figurines, David Winter Cottages, clocks, and antique furniture. The Nethercutts lived here for over 20 years and was one of the largest homes in the US. You get to see their dining table where they entertained with beautiful chandeliers. The private train cars in the back are beautiful. Amazing to see how the super wealthy lived. It's the kind of museum you will love to repeat.

Everett — Google review

There are two collections of cars housed in separate buildings: one with free admission and another costing $10. The latter includes a two-hour guided tour and requires reservations. The reviews and pictures presented here are for the free collection. Each car is accompanied by a placard containing a detailed description of the vehicle (e.g., year, original purchase price, manufacturer, mechanical specifications, and notable historical ownership). The visit to the admission-free collection, along with reading all the placards, should take no more than two hours. My only suggestion to the operator is to replace all those obnoxiously LOUD mercury lights with quiet LED lighting so visitors can truly appreciate the lovely period-era music playing in the background.Note: the museum has very limited hours and was open just 3 days per week as of this review (Thu, Fri, Sat).

Wayne C — Google review

Very informative tour. Breathtaking cars, pianos and elegant interiors of stone. A large collection of rare cars in premium condition. Main tour guide was very kind. I definitely recommend going there even though you may just be visiting LA. Worth the hassle to go there. This tour made our visit in the USA enjoyable. Greetings from Poland. So many good memories.

Nature & Parks

The Japanese Garden, located near the Sepulveda Basin on the border of Van Nuys, is a serene oasis featuring traditional elements such as ponds, bridges, and stone arrangements. The 6.5-acre garden includes a Zen meditation garden, a wet-strolling garden, and a tea garden. Despite its proximity to an industrial area and water reclamation plant, the garden offers a peaceful escape with well-kept paths winding around a central pond.

Free entrance due to 1 part being closed to access for renovation. Free parking as well & no reservation is required. You do have to check in at the entrance gate. At the parking gate, there’s a security guard. Just tell him you’re visiting the garden. Nice garden & a large pond with lots of fishes but not colorful koi fishes. There was a blue heron hiding on a small island in the pond. Very nice tea house that you can enter & sit.

Oscar R — Google review

Beautiful, peaceful gardens! I cannot believe this place is free! The hours are little limited though. Only open Monday thru Thursday and closed before 3pm or 3:30pm.There is a slight smell of sewage in the air at certain parts because it’s next to the sanitation plant.

Josh B — Google review

This place is absolutely beautiful. I’m a huge fan and avid frequenter of Japanese gardens, and botanical gardens in general, and was very impressed by the size and layout of this one. It is very well-kept and honestly it was not crowded at all when we went. I believe they cap it at 15 people per hour so it’s easy to have a very quiet stroll alone or with someone you care about. There are waterfalls, small islands, bodegas to sit in, geese walking around, and all sorts of wonderful things to see. Parking is extremely easy and plentiful. All around a really nice experience and I plan to be back in the future.

Overall Zen Experience - 5⭐!One of the many things I love about living in LA, are the countless hidden gems all over the city. I have lived here over 20 years and I still find new and interesting things to do all the time. A great example of a hidden gem that I wish more people would discover is the completely free The Japanese Garden in the Lake Balboa area of the valley. While my recent visit was not my first time here, it was the first time I've been back since I left Sherman Oaks. A fact I find interesting about the site is that it uses reclaimed water from the nearby water treatment facility. You may even notice an interesting odor while entering. The Japanese Garden is part of the really large Lake Balboa park area. While it doesn't have the hills of Griffith Park or other areas, it is a nice place to explore. There are areas for sports and in the spring and summer, on the weekend, the fields are full of all kinds of players. I've even seen cricket players out there doing their thing.Even with everything going on around it, The Japanese Garden is a lovely place. It is not a large garden and you can explore the entire area within about 15 minutes. It is thoughtfully designed and has some unique elements where they were able to combine traditional Japanese garden elements with some unique architecture. There is a tea house but I do not think they serve tea there. There are lots of places to sit and relax. There is an abundance of birds. There is a check in booth, I'm assuming so they don't let too many people in at once. Everyone who works with the park is friendly and helpful. The grounds are very well maintained, not just from a garden perspective and they even have their own parking lot so you don't need to hike all the way over from the main park.It is a lovely way to relax and unwind. And it is free. I highly recommend it.

Michael H — Google review

Very beautiful and peaceful. Loved all the flora and the animals and fish that were there. Whole visiting they had half of the garden under construction but that didn't distract or disturb the atmosphere present in the garden.

Story N — Google review

Garden looked beautiful but website showed garden was open to public for viewing. Unfortunately gates are closed so didn’t have access to walk through the gardens. There is an above path that you can peer down and so I took a few photos. But other than that you can’t experience the garden. The cultural centre had the doors were closed so no one offered assistance which was also unfortunate.

Susan A — Google review

A hidden gem in the valleys! reservations can be made online but make sure you pick a day ahead of time because they get booked pretty fast. There’s plenty of parking space in front of the Japanese garden entrance. You have to show the security by the gate your reservation to gain access. I’ll be coming back again to see the two houses that are currently closed for reconstruction.

Jay — Google review

A beautiful place with a lot of trees, bushes, flowers, birds, ducks and fish. You can enjoy nature and plunge into the beauty of the Japanese garden. I recommend visiting with children, but without dogs. The entrance is free.

Тамара Г — Google review

Beautiful spot. Free entrance. I had no idea this was here. Really enjoyed it.

Trent N — Google review

The front gate security is aggressive. It would helpful if they were nice. It’s a garden not a prison. She demanded to know why I was there and why I was alone. She wanted to search my car. I said no. She said she would keep her eye on me and not to touch anything or she would call the police. Very weird. This place is free. If you want to treat people like garbage charge them money. This is also a sewage plant so it smells.

Mike K — Google review

It was my first time visiting this place and I was a bit disappointed as I was not able to see all of the garden. Part of the garden was closed to the public as they were working or giving maintenance to it. But the part I was able to see looked nice. I love nature, so I couldn't miss a chance to visit this place. Will visit again on a future day and hopefully the whole garden will be accessible to the public by then.

Rogelio C — Google review

Such a lovely, calming place. Prepare to be amazed and be absorbed in nature. The sights are beautiful. The atmosphere and sounds are really inviting (except for the planes flying above). I went to the gardens in the morning from 9:30am to 12pm. We were about five people walking around the gardens. It was so peaceful and nurturing. The weather was perfect... except that at the time, some sections of the garden were closed off due to ongoing construction work. Other than that, it was rewarding. I am happy I went.

Parking: free with entryEntry: free and by reservation only.Better than expected! Not the greatest Japanese garden in California but definitely top 10, would rank maybe 4 or 5!When you first go in the garden you get hit by a strong waft or chemical and it looks very plain but the back of the garden is great and very well done! Water is clear, tons of different types of birds, more than I have seen next door at the Lake Balboa.Highly recommend

Quinn M — Google review

It’s a lovely little garden. I guess I didn’t realize prior to coming how little it is. That’s probably my bad. Had I tempered my expectations and known it was a half hour stroll, it would have been a 5 star visit. But since it took an hour to drive here for a half hour walk… well it seems a little less worthy. Still lovely- especially if you are in the area.

Erin H — Google review

A corner of Japan in LA, a must see.The only negative is that being close to the Van Nuys airport, there is a constant noise from the airplanes. Is not too loud since they are small planes, but it makes the experience a bit less zen than it could be…

The public beach El Matador is located in Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area between Point Dume and Leo Carrillo State Beaches. It is a popular summertime spot with cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean offering swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Low tide reveals caves accessible only when the water is low, making it a great place to take photos or hike.

Beautiful spot, for a breezy afternoon mid-week. Amazing rock formations amid low tide waves. Just enough steps, split in two sections, for a mild workout to get to the beach. Not recommended for those with physical difficulty walking. Steep incline and steps could be a challenge for some.

Fred S — Google review

Beautiful beach with stunning views! I got to see plenty of wildlife and cool rock formations. Just be aware that the stairs/hills down to the beach are very steep and rocky. The beach itself is extremely rocky and there is little to no coast line in some areas. Wear closed toed shoes!

Charlee A — Google review

One of the most popular sunset beaches in Southern California. Free to enter and free street parking. We parked about 0.5 miles away and did the short but steep hike in less than 10 minutes down to the beach. It was a Saturday night and a little crowded. The rock formations here look like a Windows screensaver. There were a ton of professional photographers on scene for sunset.

Aliza B — Google review

There is not a whole lot of parking so come early or I suggest off season! Also, check tide times as you want to see it at low tide. There were many little coves to check out as the tide went out. Several large outcroppings had cave like openings. The water was clear and cold. There were so many vibrant colored rocks on some parts of the shore. We picked a little spot nestled against the cliffside and it was a perfect morning. I loved this beach! It was wild and felt alive. There are a lot of stairs to get down to the actual beach. Portapotties at the parking lot were the only bathrooms.

Bonnie B — Google review

This beach is so beautiful!! A popular spot for visitors and tourists so I recommend going on a weekday to get more of a chance for photos and more of the beach to yourself. It is also breathtaking around sunset hour! I can’t wait to go back. It was a perfect spot for an engagement photoshoot with a couple I took photos of.

Raquel C — Google review

Beautiful beach. Short walk down a hill. 2 nice dirt paths and 2 short sets of stairs with rails. There's one section of beach at the base of the stairs and another section of beach to the right. Cool rock formations in the water. Paid parking. The lot is kinda small but we waited about 5 min and it seems there was a steady flow of people coming in and leaving.

Candace M — Google review

Gorgeous.Get there in the morning before the crowds. There are stairs,so if you have mobility issues, you won't have access to the beach. The beach has beautiful rock formations and soft sand.

Karalee C — Google review

One of the best beaches in LA and certainly the best in Malibu. Parking is very difficult to find even on weekdays. You need to climb down the stairs to reach the beach. Rocks and waves at this beach is a bit different and beautiful than other beaches in LA. Sunset is stunning. Early morning morning arrival can secure a parking spot.

Soumyaroop N — Google review

Amazing beach experience. Very easy parking on the side road, beautiful weather, lots and lots of dolphin sightings. Sand was soft and lots of room, not very crowded. Lots of proposals, and photo shoots happening while we were there. Sunset was 10/10

Brianna S — Google review

Such a picturesque beach! There are two steep staircases that lead you down to the shore, but the views are still amazing even if you decide not to go all the way down. When the tide is lower, you can explore the large rock formations on the beach. We went on a Friday morning, and there were only a couple of other groups there. Highly recommend checking it out!

Holly A — Google review

Small parking lot often full even midweek and midday. You may have to park on the side of PCH and walk.... Very pretty beach lots of rock formation that make for good pictures. It is typically FULL of people posing for photos.

Joshua V — Google review

This secret or not so secret little beach and cove should be on your list when you visit Malibu. Totally unique beach. It’s small and limited parking. Get there early. (10:00 am during the week seems to be a safe time). If you have any mobility issues this is not the beach for you. Steep decline and steps down. Simply beautiful as watched a pod of Dolphins swim by.

Christine R — Google review

One of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. The rock formations are incredible, and the waves are large. Such a peaceful and serene environment and perfect for photo shoots and a relaxing day. It is quite large and lots to explore. The combination of rocks and waves makes it cinematic and stunning. There is a paid parking lot but it can get quite busy. Overall a great beach.

Shawn S — Google review

Without a doubt this is my favourite beach not just in California but in the world. Absolutely breathtaking. Not good if you're mobily impaired as there are steep sandy slopes and a lot of steps to get down.

Dean L — Google review

Incredibly picturesque beach, especially around sunset. It does get busy, with many influencers which can get annoying, but it is still a very beautiful place. Depending on the season, the sun doesn’t set on the ocean which is a good thing to note. Water seems a little too risky to swim, especially as the rocks are not visible below the surface. Parking is pretty accessible and free after sunset. Would recommend checking out if in the area

Arthur B — Google review

A beautiful beach and state park. Ensure you pay for parking and display ticket on dashboard once you have parked. There are toilets on top of the cliff before you takes the staircase down. The climb up is hard for anyone with health issues.Views from the top and beach are beautiful. Get yourself a nice mat and enjoy the sunset views. Highly recommend coming here and visiting this beautiful beach.

Rewan P — Google review

Reminds me so much of Oregon with it's breathtaking views and unique rock formations. Small lot so parking can be tricky and fills up but has a high turn over for those that are patient. Very very steep stairs and a 20-ish min round trip trek from the parking lot to the car. Bathroom facilities are portable. Expect lines to take photos and a few disrespectful folks that use the place as their own personal photo booth. But very much worth the stop!

Cassie D — Google review

Beautiful overlook. Note that parking fee is required. Probably easy to miss the kiosk and just walk down, but no good signage. Great bird watching.

Mary U — Google review

This is one of my favorite beaches in SoCal! Despite being very popular / busy, it's so beautiful and picturesque, it's worth a visit! There is a small paid parking lot on top of the cliffs or you can park for free along the PCH (just be careful walking along the road to the beach with traffic). Sunsets here really are amazing, but I always recommend sunrise to avoid crowds! The parking lot won't be open that early, but you can easily park along the road and walk in. There's usually only a few others around early in the morning. Don't forget to check low/high tide because that will impact how far you can explore on the beach. I'm a photographer and I love this location for engagement sessions!

Carrie R — Google review

Breathtaking viewOne of the most cozy beaches at this areaCome for pictures, sunsets, relaxing. Two sets of stairs to get down. Make sure you are ready to walk.

Inna I — Google review

Stunning views and one of the best pictures, there were wedding dressed couples and others with professional photographers. The birds and rock formations are stunning beautifulIt’s a steep dirt road walk down the mountain some stairs as well and some parts looked like they may not last another heavy rain as it’s creating major craters, fall and holes , kinda scary

Reinaldo K — Google review

Stunning beach. To get to the water you will need to go down two separate flights of stairs along the cliff. The tide was high when we went so there was limited space, but it wasn’t crowded. Pack light with enough to sustain you for the day. You won’t want to leave!

Serita C — Google review

El Matador State Beach, nestled along the stunning Malibu coastline, is a hidden gem that offers a breathtaking escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As one of the lesser-known beaches in the area, it provides a more tranquil and picturesque setting, perfect for those looking to enjoy nature's beauty away from the crowded tourist hotspots. The journey to El Matador is part of the charm. As you wind your way down the scenic Malibu coast, the anticipation builds, and the views of the Pacific Ocean are simply mesmerizing. Upon arriving, you’ll need to navigate a steep path that descends to the beach, but the effort is well worth it. The dramatic cliffs and rocky formations that surround the beach create an enchanting atmosphere that feels almost otherworldly.Once you reach the beach, you’re greeted by a stunning landscape of golden sands, rugged rocks, and crystal-clear waters. The unique rock formations and sea caves provide excellent opportunities for exploration and photography, making it a favorite spot for both amateur and professional photographers. The setting is ideal for a leisurely stroll along the shore, where you can take in the natural beauty and perhaps spot some sea life, such as tide pools filled with colorful marine creatures. One of the highlights of El Matador State Beach is its relatively low visitor count compared to other beaches in the area. This makes it a perfect spot for a peaceful picnic, sunbathing, or simply unwinding while listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks. The beach’s secluded feel adds to its allure, providing a sense of serenity that is hard to find in more crowded locations. However, it’s important to keep in mind that El Matador does not have many amenities. There are no lifeguards on duty, and parking can be limited, so it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a spot. Additionally, the steep trail to the beach may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with mobility issues. In summary, El Matador State Beach is a breathtaking destination that showcases the natural beauty of Malibu’s coastline. Its stunning landscapes, serene atmosphere, and unique rock formations make it a must-visit for anyone looking to escape the crowds and connect with nature. Just be prepared for the journey down to the beach and the lack of amenities, and you’ll find yourself rewarded with one of the most picturesque beaches in Southern California. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or a scenic spot for photography, El Matador State Beach is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Zuma Beach is a popular surfing spot located along the Pacific Coast Highway, boasting 1.8 miles of sandy shoreline and equipped with lifeguard towers for safety. The Koenig Beach House, an impressive architectural gem by renowned architect Pierre Koenig, offers stunning ocean and coastline views down Broad Beach to Zuma Beach and Point Dume.

Malibu’s best beach. It’s clean and well maintained with public restrooms and showers to rinse off sand. You can take a 5+ mile walk. Porpoise often visit the surface of the glossy waves. There is a medley of birds that inhabit the beach including green parrots.

Gena V — Google review

Pretty nice, very windy at the time. Some garbage, but it's of season.Nice treat to see a Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter run drills in front of us.

Chris B — Google review

Great sandy beach. Saw dolphins nearby to beach, didn't swim, water was cold. The beach is amazing and was not so crowded. $6 for parking but you can do free parallel parking for checking the beach.

Muge B — Google review

Hands down the most beautiful public beach in Malibu. It was clean, there aren’t many people there, and very peaceful. Do not pay the $15 for parking. You can park in the street and just walk over the barrier onto the beach.

Fabixn — Google review

This is a fabulous place to visit during the weekdays when it is truly more secluded. A great place to take to take a break, meditate, read and write, or just do nothing.

Jojopahmaria N — Google review

I would currently not at all recommend that beach. We had to pay 8$ for the day and got really nothing apart from closed restrooms, dirty and not working showers, trash cans which were more than full.I can definitely understand why people park outside next to the highway, it's a shame to charge money for the current situation. Seems like they are renewing some things, but can't tell how long that will take.Safe your money and go somewhere else.

Lara S — Google review

What can you say about this beach besides the SoCal jewel. The sunsets, the mountainous backdrop, the perfect surf. Only drawback is all the people and struggle to find parking, but what can you expect at one of the best beaches in California. Zuma Beach will always have a special spot in my feels.

TheLeakingGenius — Google review

Today, amidst Topanga-bound travel, I wenthere and had QUITE THE TIME swimming inthe ocean. Water was cold yet the contrastbetween water temperatures and daytimeheat was wonderful. I got way out until myfoot could no longer touch the bottom fora while, easily navigating waves without alot of them causing any problem for me atleast. Only downfall is lack of natural shadeso it's best to bring some of your own if youwanna spend a lot of time here while the sunhappens to be very bright. Even saw one fish.

None C — Google review

Beautiful beach in Malibu off the PCH that gets crowded in the summer but nice during the fall/winter with less people. I was there recently when a big storm was coming in & caught these waves.

Akiko A — Google review

Been going here since the 80s! Great beach with lots of room!

Matt D — Google review

Beautiful beach with scenic views and tons of parking. The beaches are clean and well maintained as well. They also have volleyball nets. When you enter the first area even has another body of water with ducks and seagulls. You are more likely to see marine life there.

Mahwish N — Google review

Great beach, very picturesque. Sand here is very good. Plenty of parking, although expensive. One item to know is that the waves here are pretty big, so if you're visiting the area and want a more swimmable beach - Santa Barbara or Santa Monica would be more advisable.

Paradise Cove Rd is a narrow and tree-lined roadway that leads to a charming sandy beach and cafe in Malibu, California. The beach has been used for filming for many tv shows including "The OC," "Baywatch," and "The Rockford Files." The cafe also extends onto the beach, with all of its amenities available to rent. It can cost $$$ to reserve a spot on the sand, but the view is well worth it.

Hidden gem of a private beach in Malibu. Don't tell anybody!

We took a trip to Southern California and drove up the coast past Pepperdine University and we found this gym an old surfer and movie hangout from the '50s and '60s. The food was good. We had calamari as an appetizer and then dove into the main course. Take a look at the pics

Just.The.Doug. E — Google review

I found the place a little pricey, so sad they got rid of the peanuts.

Mona P — Google review

Beautiful place, but the food was disgusting and the sea gulls were a nuisance

Tywon P — Google review

Relaxing walk and easy day at the beach. Don't expect too much food-wise.

Maria N — Google review

Food is Worth the wait. Be careful on the parking situationParking up the street might be better.Rental beds on on the beach are $300.00

Enjoyed a delicious meal by the beach. Sever Nayara was so polite and pleasant. She was very attentive. Enjoyed everything

Charli B — Google review

Went with friends and it is beautiful it is worth it for parking.

Aceapex — Google review

Parking is very expensive , very poor customer service, non professional , they asked us to leave if we are not ordering right away taking in consideration that we have booked 3 tables and they gave us only 2, we came all the way from San Diego as group resulting in having the worst lunch ever separately from each others plus the food was not cooked well and has no flavor

Master R — Google review

This was a very nice experience. Located within Malibu of course, I'm sure you will enjoy the boardwalk, and small private beach.
